Low Income Housing is a Better Option than this

From: -Anonymous-

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003

1. Noisy neighbors - all of the people on our floor didn't leave the apartment building until after 11:00 at night, slamming the hallway and apartment doors every time they would come and go. In addition, our neighbor who was one floor below us and one apartment over played their stereo so loud, we could hear it in ours - I can't imagine what it would be like to live directly above or next to them.

2. Tons of dogs, nobody owns a leash! I have two dogs that I couldn't take out half the time because nobody else bothers to keep their dogs on a leash. Even a member of the maintenance staff refused to put his "boxer" on a leash when he was asked. In addition, in the summertime, our dog loving neighbors got together in the courtyard below our windows to let their furry friends run wild at 10:00 at night. Imagine 5-10 people yelling at their dogs simultaneously "come back here, you know better". Obviously they don't or you wouldn't have to yell at them.

3. If you are a non-smoker, beware! Our neighbors below us smoked so much, it would waft up from their apartment to ours through open windows and yes, even the vent in the laundry room - our laundry room smelled like an ash tray!

4. A majority of the neighbors are lazy when it comes to picking up their papers. I witnessed over 20 papers on our front sidewalk one day. People leave their papers for weeks. Even when we would pick them up and set them right in front of their apartment door, they wouldn't get the hint that it bothered other people - apparently they didn't care if our neighbor in the wheel chair or our elderly neighbors were able to get in and out of the building safely.

5. Lack of any kind of help from the office staff. I called to complain numerous times about the newspapers cluttering our front walk and foyer (they were even stacked against the heater - nice fire hazard)! I also called to complain about the dog situation a couple of times. When I finally witnessed the 24 paper pile-up, I called the regional office since I got nowhere with the office staff on-site (which isn't uncommon - they never return phone calls)! The regional office called and spoke with the office on-site about the dog and paper problem. A note was put on our building and only our building that if you walk your dog, you must keep it on a leash - what about the people in the other buildings, do you suppose they only walk their dogs at their buildings' In addition, the note said, if you do not wish to receive your paper, please cancel it or let the office staff know and they will cancel it - yeah, these people are too lazy to pick up a newspaper, do you think they are going to get right on the ball all of a sudden and call to cancel their paper'

In conclusion, the only plus to this place is that is was 8 minutes away from work - which, depending on how well you like your job, might not necessarily be a good thing. The staff was rude and unattentive, the maintenance staff was lazy and ineffective and the $1100 price tag was ridiculous. I have since bought a house that faces a low income housing complex. The apartments are less than half the price of what we were paying, the apartments are almost identical to Lincoln at the Parks and I even saw the maintenance man out in the lawn the other day picking up trash on the grounds . . . hmm, now that's a concept.
