Hello,
I lived at Railway for almost 6 years. I recently left after purchasing my first home. Some of the problems I've had while living here:
1)Parking is a problem. I had 2 cars and a garage unit. When I initially move in I was given a parking pass for both cars. Then - when the parking problems began - they told me I had to park both cars in my garage or the space directly in front of my garage. They harassed me and threatened to tow my car if it was not parked in the designated spot (even though I lived there). When I would have guests over - I had to have them park next to the club house (several blocks away) or they would potentially get ticketed and towed. And here is the worst part - I would walk to and from the train (route 59 stop) and see people getting in cars and leaving the complex (or in the morning coming in and parking closest to the train station) - obviously parking there illegally - yet they harass me - someone who lives there. I mentioned it to the staff and they just shrugged it off ?? saying that they need to ??know about it?? before they can take action. Sad thing is that the staff comes at 9am and leaves at 6pm. Nobody is there to see the problem. But damn if they won??t harass a tenet about their parking ?? that won??t be had!!!!
2)The staff is rude. It is run by a bunch of women that apparently are on constant PMS or something. Almost every encounter I??ve had with them (including their business manager ?? a woman) has been negative. I am a pretty low key, non-complaining type, but these people just were very high intensity and I always felt uncomfortable when coming into the club house. I rarely went in there unless I had to interact with them for my mail, or packages that were left for me. One example I will share is when I issued my ??intent to vacate?? form. They get very tough with you about the termination. I left my apartment 1 month early and this retarded staffer got all in my face about their ??intent to vacate?? form. I gave them nearly 60 days notice (yet she kept focusing on the fact I was vacating 10 days from the day I was giving it to her) and I explained that I would pay the final month rent (even though I would not be there ?? they have a 3 month penalty normally if you leave early) ?? but she had to get in my face anyway about making sure I ??understand the policy?? and was responsible for payment of my last month rent.
3)Apartment walls are very thin and the place is not well insulated from noise. You can tell they built it with the minimum needed materials to erect an apartment complex. You can hear the neighbors as if they are in the same room with you. It??s obnoxious ?? but you get used to it. In addition, do not live in any of the buildings that border route 59 ?? the street can be heard day and night as cars pass by. We had a patio facing route 59 that was completely useless as nobody wanted to go out and listen to the highway noises. Dump trucks and semis and other noises could be heard in the apartment even when the windows were closed! The freight trains that go through the BNSF line can be heard (and the apartment would shake slightly on occasion) at all hours of the night.
4)Grounds are a mess. Beer cans and broken glass can be found all around the grounds including the ??peaceful?? retention pond they highlight on their brochures.
5)Security is a joke here. The side doors of my building (building #10) were broken and could be entered for nearly 5 years. The maintenance staff never fixed the doors. Tenets would bypass the keycard system repeatedly by using rocks to prop open the main entry doors. The bicycle room door was broken for the nearly 6 years I lived there. The place is run down and was only built 6 years ago. But you would think you were living in a run down ??ghetto?? for the most part.
6)Bottom Line: The rent for this place is simply too high for what you are ??getting??. These units should be about 50 to 70% less than they are asking.

Hey buyer12 I lived in Railway Plaza Apartments as well and had a great experience. I moved there from Canada. The girls were wonderful to me and the apartment was great a little pricey but well worth it. Anyways buyer12 buy your self a dictionary Retarded means slow, hinder etc. The dictionary definition makes no connection to a mentally challenged individual. So you are actually the on who is retarded. You retard have a great day. Andrew |

well i sense a bit of anger in you. what kept you at this place for so long if you are soo unhappy? i have lived here since 2003 in the building right across from yours (if you are really in building #10). yes you can hear your neighbors now and then but it is an apartment. if it is soooo bad, get a house. and the comments about the office staff being PMS...grow up. and the one comment that really upsets me is calling someone retarded. think about that comment for just a minute. was it really necessary? why would you make fun of someone who is actually mentally challenged? you are obviously an individual with no class. you shouldnt make fun of people it is not nice. and if you want to talk about this more come and visit me i,m on the third floor.

Many people live in these apartments for the convenience of the train, and personally, I love my apartment (the layout, appliances, and central air are great.) I have lived in this building for 3 years and I completely agree that the grounds are a mess, the buildings aren't secure, and the walls are thin. Someone actually kicks in the side and bike room doors, and they do get fixed, but the residents or their friends keep busting them. This means that anyone can come into our building, even if they don't live here...I may ask for my security deposit back when I move out. My neighboors upstairs have a toddler and I hear it every time she smacks the sliding glass door, as I am sure that they hear my dog bark and are just as annoyed. As for the staff, I think they have always been really nice and easy to work with.

I agree with the comments. Especially, The staff is difficult to deal with and have been pretty rough with me.
