I rented for one year I am a quiet tenant I pay my rent on time and I moved in with a special and I asked Judy the rental agent about how much my rent would be raised after the first year of the special and she assured me it would not be more than $25.00. Well my lease expired and no one called or sent me a letter of intent. After my lease was up I had still been paying the original lease agreement amount for two months with no problem. I ran into Judy in the parking lot and she said oh I forgot to renew your lease. She finally sent me a new lease that was raised an extra $100.00 per month and I reminded her of our conversation when I moved in about how she assured me it wouldnt be more than $25.00. All she could say is well that is the fair market price now. I said that is unacceptable can we reduce this since the neighbor told me her rent was only raised $25.00. She said she would only reduce $25.00 off of the $100 and she wanted me to sign a lease back dated two months prior and pay the difference. After several phone calls and lies. She refused to let me talk to her manager named Victoria and assured me Victoria could not help me. After speaking to Victoria I found out Judy is a liar and Victoria is a poor money grubbing manager herself. These people would rather lose a good paying tenant then give a deal. They like to lure people in and take advantage. I have spoken to a lawyer who said that they have now accepted a month to month after they accepted my two rent payments after the first lease expired. I explained this to them and they are still trying to get me to pay the back pay and sign a lease back dated 3 months ago now! They also have come into my townhome unannounced on 2 occasions and 1 more time by placing a flyer on my door saying we will be entering your home on either two different days. They constantly send rude flyers accusing residents of owning pets without deposits or registration tags. These people are crooks and apparently Im not the only one who thinks so. The townhomes directly connected to mine have been vacant for over 6months. I wish I knew about this site previously. Also the parking lot is in the back of my townhome and they do not allow overnight parking on the street so the only way to enter my townhome is to walk around the building through the grass!

I am Judi the leasing manager and I would like to address the concerns this tenant has. I am not saying she is not a good tenant because she is a very quiet tenant who has always paid her rent on time. She has always been polite and never causes a problem. One day I saw her one morning in the parking lot and was concerned that she never responsed to phone calls or letters that we left on her door about her lease renewal. She told me that she thought we automatically renewed her lease and I explained I cannot renew a lease unless the person comes in and signs the new lease agreement. I told her I tried to call her with the number that I had on file and all I ever got was an answering machine. I did find out later that she had changed her phone number and we did not have the new one. I explained that according to her lease, if it is not renewed then she is to be put on a month to month, but since the month to month would run so much more, I offered to backdate the lease and give her a good price, lower than originally set. We had increased our prices by 3% this last year and as people are renewing their leases, it is being reflected in the amount of their lease. We offered an amount to her which was $44 cheaper than what was the amount she would have to pay under the new prices. We want to keep her as a tenant but we could not renew the concession she had as the paper she signed said that the concession was good for only one year and expired on the last day of the lease. I never promised her $25 off but that the new amount would be at least $25 off of the actual rent. Instead we offered her $64.00 off. We have never entered her home unannounced. In the summer we did do an alarm inspection and we notified everyone on the complex when that would be done. About the rude flyers...I am sorry if you think they are rude. We have just notified people that if you have a pet and do not clean up after them there will be a charge. Also, if you get a pet and do not notify us then that is a breach of your lease. Papers are signed to that effect when a person moves in. There is also a weight restriction of a pet since January of 2004 but anyone who lived here before has been grandfathered in. The apartment next to this tenant has only been vacant for 3 months as he moved out Oct 31st. We had a lot of work to finish this apartment. The apartment on the other side of this tenant was empty for only a month when someone moved in. Yes, her apartment does face 5th Ave and there is no parking on the street, but she knew what apartment she was getting before she moved in. Also, there are sidewalks to every apartment and you do not have to cut across the grass. That is the person's choice. Also, I am the one who does the leases and I get the president's approval of what is charged. The property manager cannot change something the president of the organization sets. The PM is also here only 2 1/2 days a week. So she tries to return calls but I did not have a proper number to give her until the tenant called us. Also, our PM is named Veronica, not Victoria. I am sorry that the tenant is upset, and we wish she would sign the lease as she is a good tenant. I believe it was a case of misunderstanding. We are more than willing to sit with her but she refuses to talk to me anymore. Again, I am sorry for any misunderstandings.
