I moved into my apartment a few months ago and the day I moved in I was extrememly upset. My friend lived here about 2 years ago, and never had any problems. I filled out a move in inpection form top to bottom with problems, which to this day have not been fixed. I first found ripped, dirty and dusty old textured bathroom wallpaper, which maintenance refused to take down even though it was already falling off. I had to get on my hands and knees and scrub off the dusty wallpaper, which then started to take off the drywall. My tub was filty, my toilet seat was cracked and wobbly, and within 1 and a half months of being in my apartment, my toilet overflowed, for no reason, and water came from every seam, and bolt of my toilet. I called the emergency number which I had to leave a message on! They called me back 20 minutes later! The maintenance man didn't make it to my apartment for 2 and a half hours. By that time, the water had soaked into my living room and bedroom, and everytime I walked on the carpeting, it was like walking through swamp water. When the guy finally made it to my apartment, he said I needed a better plunger, and that was the problem. Then he proceeded to mop my floor, with the dirty water that came out of the toilet, which left used toilet paper stuck to my floor! He then vacuumed up the water under my carpeting and said he would send a cleaning crew the next day. They never came, and I highly doubt that a better plunger would have stopped my toilet from almost exploding. I then called the manager, who was of no help, which doesn't surprise me, since the property is up for sale. She said she would send someone to fix the problem, yet again, no one was sent. The next week, we were getting so cold in our bedroom that we decided to look at the vents, which were basically falling out of the wall and stuck shut. Again, no one came to fix these, so we ended up buying a new register, but realized that the hole for the vent was too large, and that no register would be able to be screwed into the wall! Since we moved in, all of my produce has been rotting within a day or two, and recently I bought flowers and they died in 2 days, and I mean died as in dried out in a full vase of water! Since my father is a heating and cooling tech, I had him come in to take a look at my apartment. It turns out I had a gas leak, which is why nothing can live in my apartment!!! These people have a law suit waiting to happen, and I feel very niave for living here without doing thourough research. Also during the latest bout of snow, the plow person plowed the snow behind my car, and did not shovel the walks, so when I had to leave for work, I had to stand knee deep in the snow, in high heels and dress pants, to dig my car out of my parking space. The staff is great with an exception of the manager, and the maintenance staff. I understand that when a property is up for sale, the staff is at risk for losing thier jobs, but that doesn't excuse the fact that customer service is a big part, if not the biggest part of maintaining an apartment complex, which I think the staff needs to be reminded of. I cannot wait until my lease is up, I've heard great things about Cress Creek.

This resident has a really good imagination. She's just a vindictive nut. I can't believe the stuff she's making up. I know what happened because I used to work there. I don't anymore and therefore it doesn't really matter to me what she says but this is ridiculous. She's outright lying! Her apartment was not dirty, they have an outside company that comes in and cleans every apartment. If the toilet seat had been cracked, it would have been replaced. Her wallpaper was fine, she just didn't like it and management ended up taking it down for her after she complained. Her toilet overflowed due to too much tp being flushed at once. It was not the fault of our toilet! Maintenance came out within 1 hour (it was after hours) and mopped up all the water, cleaned the tile floors and extracted the water from her carpet. We DID have a contractor come out later to shampoo the carpet. The vents were not falling out of the wall and were not stuck shut. They had some rust stains on them which she didn't like. Again, Management ordered new and replaced them. Gas leak??? She never complained of things dying or food spoiling. Never notified us she had found a gas leak either. And "the latest bout of snow"??? When exactly would that have been? She moved in this summer,or as she states above "a few months ago". She wrote this on Sept 26. We all know Chicago area's weather is sometimes crazy but we didn't have any snow between the time she moved in and the time she wrote this. Everything you read on this website, about any of the apt. communities listed, should be taken with a grain of salt. Many of the people who write stuff are disgruntled about something else (like they're being evicted because they didn't pay their rent, or they want to be let out of their lease with no penalty so they can move in with a friend or got a job transfer, etc.) and take it out on the management company here when they don't get their way.
