Salem walk is getting worse with every month. I live there since 2005, before you sign your contract office will promise you everything, no pets, quiet, clean, freshly painted, safe and etc. What you get is landlords that demand 90 days notice if you will or won t renew your lease, $2 washer, $2 dryer, old buildings where you can hear your neighbors when they sneeze, wall AC units that are 20 yrs old and make noise as a small jet and electricity bill sky high, no TV antenna so better have $60 for cable, poor to none ventilation, kitchen hood ends inside the hollow walls and from there smell can go in any unit following the pipes and the cracks same applies to bathrooms (get moldy very fast) so if you lucky and you have neighbors that are heavy smokers or like garlic when they cook good luck. Safety there is also very questionable more and more low income families move in to Salem Walk, 10 people living in 2 bedroom apartment, many unsupervised teenagers, outside drinking and last but not least Salem walks wakes up regularly with gang graffiti, last were not cleaned very good so look at the water recreation building on the left side when you enter from Sanders.
To summarize living in Salem Walk is like gambling, you might be lucky for a while, but in general only two people win the landlord and who does not live there .

Sheesh. I actually remember when it was fairly nice. It's too bad northern Illinois has become a total sanctuary for illegals. It's sad to see it spill over into the burbs.
