Marquette Management Sucks

Bourbon Square was a nice place to live when it was under Equity Management's umbrella. Now that it is under Marquette, things have gone completley down hill. They had this big idea to turn the place into condos, which at first we were excited about. When we went to the open house we found out that the development (taking part in 3 stages) had tiered pricing starting at roughly $200k for an as is apartment, and that doesn't include the garage that we rent now! Upon further research we had found that the town homes directly across the road, with a garage, better ammenities, and more room were going for $189k for a 3 bedroom! The conversion took place in August for phase one, so far sales expectation, suprise suprise, are far below their original estimate. To add insult to injury a 20% down payment was required within 40 days of the initial pre sale offering. If we had $20k in liquid cash, we wouldn't be living here! Not to mention that there is also a $300 per month (or so) association fee to cover landscaping and plowing (read about plowing further below) Since Marquette took over, maintenance has been a constant issue. The recent snowstorm drove this point home. Prior to Marquette the plow drivers would start at 4am to ensure that cars would be able to at least get out. While everyone was at work, they would plow out and salt al of the parking spaces, side walks, and entryways. Needless to say, this didn't happen under marquette. It was a complete disaster! Now plowing was done over night and when they did show up at 3pm in the afternoon, they did a piss poor job at that. There is still a 10" ice damn in front of my garage, Only half of all sidewalks were plowed, and there are still vast expanses of thick ice in the lots, not to mention not a trace of salt was spread. This is a huge saftey issue. I dug out 5 stuck cars belonging to my neighbors before I left in the morning. When my polite displeasure was broght to the attention of management, I was treated with disdane and talked to as though they were doing us a favor by letting us live in their community. We pay rather high rent, which pays their salaries. We are their customers and should be treated as such, with regard and seriousness, not mocked and treated like dirt! The staff is continually rude and unpleasant in all situations. The complete lack of respect and service is profoundly appauling. One walks into the office to pick up a package, or to make a service request and is simply gawked at. We are not the type to complain about everything to management. We have only had to call them to fix something on three occasions and on all three it was a nightmarish experience. Uner equity group, the staff were friendly and warm at all times. Service was ecxelent, and the grounds were well kept. Marquette has dropped the ball, big time. We have some close friends that we have known for years that moved in a year or so ago. They too have had horrible experiences with the plumbing and the heater. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our lease when it comes do, and will will be sure to educate others before they get sucked into the empty promises made by marquette. Go down the road to Brook Run in Arlington Heights. We have friends who live there and love it. Marquette has lost all of our business and our referral business!
