Horrible Management! Ruins otherwise Good Apartments

STAY AWAY!
I've lived at Bourbon Square Apartments for over a year now. The apartments have a wonderful layout and are large, and the grounds are well maintained. I can't hear my neighbors at all (but then again, I'm on the top floor).
Normally, that would be enough to satisfy me. Unfortunately, all those positives are ruined by a rude and unprofessional management team. I mean honestly, out of all the apartments that I have ever lived in, I have never seen such an incompetent staff. It seems like they intentionally go out of their way to ensure their lessees walk away in a bad mood. They are simply impossible to tolerate and the only one that seems courteous in any way is Terri, whose main job is to find NEW tenants.
I mean, you'd think that it would be hard to piss people off who are just trying to pick up a package, but this team seems to defy the impossible and annoy tenants in record time. Its like the very presence of the tenant in front of them is a bother and that they have much better things to be doing. I'm not sure when "Hi, what do you want'" became a proper greeting. Nor do I appreciate being talked down to like a 5 year old when my package hasn't arrived yet.
It also seems like the accountant runs the show. Once my roommate was a few days late on her rent payment and showed up at their offices with a check for the full amount (plus late fee). She was turned away accountant, because apparently they would only take a cashiers check for late payments. In the mean time, the accountant not only started called me with threats of fees, lawsuits, and an eventual eviction, but also began calling her MOTHER! I mean come on...I understand that the payment was a few days late, but in the 10 months of living there,we had never had any problems and it seemed uncivilized for her to try and scare me with threat after threat in our first conversation together, especially when we were more than happy to pay! Don't even get me started on them calling her mother...
Filing a maintenance request is a nightmare. Half the time, the staff member writing the ticket will complain and bicker endlessly when we tell them that the technician should call us first before letting himself into the apartment. The other half of the time, the technician will tell us the problem is "fixed," only to have it reappear a few hours later.
To top it all off, it seems like their policies are constantly evolving for the worse, and residents are locked into whatever draconian measures they decide because of broad statements on the lease. For instance, we suddenly had to take furniture off of our balcony after a year of living here...because suddenly it violated policy. They gave us a letter saying we had 24 hours to remove it...(which arrived 2 days after the date on the letter). Simply ridiculous...
Its an okay place to live if you take management out of the picture, COMPLETELY.

OMG! I know exactly where these people live and thank goodness you finally have to get that ugly living room sofa off your balcony! And apparently late with rent. Hmmm... disgruntled is a word that comes to mind. Sounds like you need to move. I've lived here for 4 years and have only seen improvements. The staff is more than courteous and the maintenance guys are on the ball! Anyone reading this site will see you're a person with a problem!

granted I too would have complained about a sofa on the balcony, how white trash, but as far as improvements, where are U living? I moved out 6 months ago after having been there for eight years. There was one time after I had been there for 6 years and always having paid on time when I was 3 days late with the rent. In fact I had told them I was out of town on a family emergency and I would pay them when I returned. I got "dont worry about a thing" on the phone but returned to a 5 day notice on my door! After watching the messed up way the upper management tried to convert the apts to condos and the fact that since the investors of the project pulled out, the owners have thrown up their hands and are now trying to sell the complex yet again. First off who in there right mind would buy an apt complex and try to convert them to condos in a housing mkt like it is? I did alot of research on the purchase by Marquet and I found legal documents advising them to leave it as a rental property. Aparrently Marquette in thier God like wisdom decided to still convert them; and look how that turned out! In the meantime who is going to buy a huge complex like that in this economy? So you poor people still living there are in for consistant problems and no money being spent on improvements till you are sold. That's why I bought a condo elsewhere. PS everyone I knew who put money down on a condo, has since bought elsewhere and moved out!
