Bigger is NOT better! These apartments stink!

Yes, these apartments are big and have a lot of potential but the upkeep is unsatisfactory, the office staff or the maintenance people, or both are just plain lazy, and the grounds are unsafe. I have lived in Bourbon Square for over a year. And before someone writes back 'if you don't like it move' I am planning on moving out shortly.

The place I rented never got the repairs I requested on my move in date. The office continually told me they'd get to it but I finally just got tired of calling. There are unpainted areas of the walls and doors, the wood around the kitchen floor was nailed on but never painted after that so there are black dots all over the white wood. The kitchen floor has huge bubbles in it.

An example of my move-in repairs was my bedroom door. I called because my bedroom door would not shut all the way and the maintenance guy came out and broke the doorway moulding to make it fit shut but never came back to re-paint it. Under the white paint it was black before so its all cracked white paint now with black under it and it looks like crap.

The lights around the complex are horrible and often have burned out bulbs or otherwise do not work. There are some areas next to sidewalks with huge holes in the dirt. I have no idea how no one has broken their leg in one yet.

One positive note, this summer my air went out and the maintenance came out to fix it within minutes...I couldn't believe it!

Now they are working on the balcony cement floors. I appreciate the idea that they are trying to improve the place but they gave us very little notice to move everything on the balcony and storage room. And offered no ideas on where we were supposed to store all the stuff out there. There is no where to put outside plants inside so what did they expect people to do with them, or with their outside furniture. The letter they put outside our apartment telling us of the planned repairs also said nothing about being unable to even open the sliding glass door. When I pay my rent I expect to be able to use all of my apartment, not almost all of it. They also have taken well over the week they said they would to complete the repair. Althogh, the repairs do look nice, I'll admit.

Bottom line is the management could do a much better job of communicating to their tennants and also a MUCH better job at repairs. I have talked to a LOT of my neighbors and they all agree that maintenence here is horrible. Believe what you want in these reviews but there are so many people complaining of the same things I would tend to believe them.

I'm paying over $1,400 a month for an upgraded apartment. At that price I expect good service. Period.

If you're looking to move in here, the apartments have a lot of room, the neighborhood is nice for the most part, and the place in general is in good shape. But, if you want the 'luxury' apartment feel and if you want your apartment to be well maintained I'd look further. And remember, bigger is not ALWAYS better! Lol.

I live at Bourbon Square too and my balcony was being repaired as well. I received a notice about a week prior which gave me ample time to remove all my items. Inconvenience? Perhaps BUT next time it rains or snows, it will be well worth it. People are never happy, are they? There is a problem, you get pissed. They try to fix it...you get pissed. So you couldn't use your balcony for a week. Did your life come to a screaching halt? How much crap did you have on your balcony that you needed more notice? I admit, sometimes things take a while to get fixed but as you said yourself...the IMPORTANT things get fixed immediately. So move out and buy a house. Do all the work yourself and pay for it. Seriously....baseboards? that is your biggest gripe? Good luck with your new place and good riddence. I dont need a little crying spoiled baby for a neighbor.
