Clover Ridge Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

The last person that posted seems a bit fishy. This sounds like one of the maintenance men that work here. No rental increase in 5 years' Sounds like hired help to me!
I have lived here for a over 5 years and my rent goes up $100 every year. If he is not hired help then maybe somebody needs to sue this apartment complex based on discrimination.
As far as the residents are concerned, I don't see a lot of "ghetto" type people that live in Clover Ridge Apartments. The people that live here seem fine. It is a good mix of all ethnicity and this in my opinion is always great to see.
We do have to pay for trash, $5 a month. This is a joke because the trash dumpsters are always spilling over with garbage.
The apartments are OK. The staff is OK. I'm not a fan of being treated badly when you work hard and spend your money on expensive rent. So I have the standards of, "I spend money, you be nice," not, "I spend money, please be nice."
I have seen three rental managers since I have lived here. The first two were the best. The one we have now is not great. The property has changed for the worse as far as the up keep. It seems as if he is being given perks from the Marquette Management company in keeping expenses down. He has one of the most expensive cars I have seen any rental manager that has worked here have.
You do not have options on who your providers are such as phone and cable. In fact, there is no cable. There is a company contracted to provide us with satellite. I had so many problems with mine that I turned mine off plus this company's package prices are too high. I do have a few friends that live here in the same complex. They tell me that when they see Dish offer free channels like HBO, etc. it sucks that they can't take advantage of those offers and pay more than real Dish customers.
Also, they don't put money in property lights. It is not safe ANY PLACE where there is no lighting at night. This property is a very dark property at night. Plenty of opportunity for someone to commit a crime and get away with it. Your neighbors would never see you get attacked!
The building is not well built. We complained of mold in our laundry room for two years. It has yet to be fixed. Additionally, wild animals do get caught in your walls, ceiling, etc. One of my old neighbors had a critter stuck in their bathroom ceiling. Occasionally I have heard critters running across my friend's bedroom ceiling when I spend the night in her third floor unit to babysit her children. This is horrifying.
I never had a problem with parking.
We are buying a house in 3 months and moving so I hope this info review helps you. The joker that wrote he doesn't get a rental increase is lying. If you believe him and move here, your wallet will be disappointed. If he lied about this, imagine what else in his review is a lie.

Greetings from the "joker". I take great offense at your calling me a liar. Of course I have no way to prove who I am and I sure as heck am not going to give my name and address, so the rest of the people reading this will just have to make their own judgments. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience here--well really I couldn't care less--and you are free to tell others. But you have no justification whatsoever in calling me a liar.
It seems that my statement about no rent increases has you the most worked up, so I went back and checked just to be sure. Unfortunately I only have my bank statements back to 2003, which is as far back as I kept them. But sure enough, it is the roughly the same amount as I'm paying today (the monthly rate changes somewhat due to utilities). Now MAYBE, just maybe, I was paying less in 2002, I don't know. So if it was 4 years and not 5, then sue me.
What I do know is they did raise my rent the first three years, which I believe I stated in my prior review. Overall, I'm paying about $350 more a month than when I moved in in 1999.
Why haven't they raised my rent? I have no idea. Maybe because I've never been late paying it, or that I've never had any complaints about me, and I've rarely needed maintenance work done. I don't know. But I WILL state categorically that I don't work for Clover Ridge or Marquette. As I said before, you are free to either believe me or not, but don't you dare call me a liar.

Well, I read all the reviews on here and I agree with the author. It does seem a bit "fishy". I have never known a place to not increase your rent if it is not a private landlord.
Plus you came back to argue the author calling you a liar. Who cares really? Their review seemed fair to me. Compared to everyone else's on here, yours seems a bit out of place.

Well, I have lived here since 2003 and my rent has increased about $40.00 for 2 of those years, and one year they did not raise it at all. If they are raising your rent $100.00 per year, maybe they are trying to encourage you to move out. Sounds like you complain a lot. Another thing to note is that if you live in an undesireable unit (facing the parking lot, or just off of Rand Rd, or on the 3rd floor) they are less likely to raise rent on those units because it is more difficult to find a new tenant to occupy them.
I don't love the new property manager either. Sounds to me like the probems described are the same problems that any normal homeowner would have. Critters in the ceiling is not that bad - and can be handled fairly easily. I have no problems with the maintenance staff here. Everything is resolved within 48 hours.
Oh and about the lighting - I don't know where you live on the property, but there is plenty of outside lighting in the parking lots and each building has a bright light at the doorway.
My only complaint about this place is that the windows are REALLY drafty - and they are horrible at maintaining the parking lot when it snows. I know 3 different people who have slipped and fell on ice in the parking lot.
