Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007

I have lived here for three years now. When I first moved in, these were some of the best apartments in the northwest suburbs. Since then, this place has deteriorated in almost every possible way. When I first moved here from Evanston, I was attracted by the abundance of well-lit parking and how safely lit the streets and entrances were. They removed most of the lighting now and this place couldn't be any darker. My wife and I try not to go out at night any more because you can't see anything.
In 2004, the apartments were populated with many young professionals who were quiet and seemed to keep to themselves. They have been replaced by a large number of late teens and early 20's who are loud and obnoxious and smoke an extremely high amount of marijuana that we can smell in the hall and our apartment. The few other folks that still seem to be here have young children which are almost equally noisy.
Whenever you have a complaint here, the management could seemingly care less except for one woman who works in the office. She is extremely helpful, but everyone is is garbage.
The mulch planting beds outside the buildings lack mulch and in some cases plants. This is very aesthetically pleasing.
The windows are extremely drafty which means now matter how much you run the heat, it is difficult to stay warm. At least we don't have to pay for the heat, though. I have heard that these places are going to be converted to condos... well if they don't replace all the windows, expect extremely high heating bills.
Basically, for what you have to pay (amongst the highest rents in northwest cook county), you don't get your money's worth.

I think you are exactly right. You can follow the condo conversion on the internet. Countryside has even hired attorneys to persuade the Palatine Council. The parasitic Countryside management is adding sprinklers and whatever is minimally required in order to convert to condos and making a lot of $$. Countryside management needs a rude awakening.

I agree with you slightly. THe cost of the place is way to much...And they treat you horrible at the front office...But if you were talking about that one woman who is nice and you mean Rana.. You must not have seen the real her because she is the worst of them all...Since our time at Countryside she has only lied to us and disrespected us. My room mates and I are young and in our 20's...The three of us work hard everyday to stay in this apartment and because of our age Countryside continues to disrespect us and give us problems and treat us badly overall...especially Rana.
