DON'T RENT ANYTHING FROM INVESCO.

This place is a hole. The only reason we moved here is because I was in the last semester of my graduate degree and money was running very thin. Th previous reviewer is right. Snow is rarely plowed and when it is it is done poorly. They don't salt. My wife fell down in the parking lot several times because of ice. We finally had to invest in those slip on spikes to get to our vehicles. The police know the kids here by name. I know this because some drunk guy stumbled up to our door and ripped the screen off. We called the cops. They came out and found the guy passed out on the grounds. They asked if we had any other problems. I told him that three kids had been ripping boards off of the privacy fences and making bike ramps out of them. About that time they all rode by and I said, "Those are the kids." He said oh yeah, and then named them all.
The management here is HORRIBLE. The boiler in our building bursted on a Fri. and flooded half of our bedroom. We woke up to soaked carpet and called the "emergency" maintenance number. They finally got around to coming out on Mon. Then they weren't going to do anything about it because it had pretty much dried up by then since we put every towel we had down to soak up the water. After a week of arguing with them, they finally came out and replaced the drywall so we wouldn't get mold sickness. This caused flooding in the hallway too, but they never did anything about that. It smells like mold out there.
The other tenants here don't have any pride. They just throw trash and junk mail on the ground and in the grass. There is no grounds crew, so it will stay there for months unless you pick it up yourself. Eventually, it will get turned to mulch when the mow the grass.
Even though the lease says nobody can work on their cars in the parking lot, there are at least three cars torn apart at all times, which does take up parking spots.
The same truck and van have been tagged with "Illegal parking. Will Tow" signs four times since we've been here. The owners just tear them off and leave them where they are (presumably because the don't run).
The maintenance guy never calls ahead when they are coming and never leaves a note saying he was here. Who knows how many times they've been in our apartment. On top of that, he's not very good at his job and he's lazy. He only patches stuff and never really fixes anything.
The management (which is all the way down in Des Plaines) is rude, incompetent, and extremely unprofessional. When you call you can tell in the tone of their voice that you are just a nuisance to them and they never get any of their stuff straight. Example: I recently called them because we had gotten a lease renewal form in the mail. It said if we didn't return the lease by June 1, they would start shoeing our apartment and we would be forced to move when they found new tenants. OUR LEASE DOES'T EXPIRE UNTIL AUG 1! So I called them to ask what this was all about. The conversation went something like this...
Them:Hello.
Me: Hi. I just received a lease renewal form in the mail along with a letter that says if we don't return it by June 1 you will start showing our apartment and we will have to leave when you find new tenants. Our lease isn't up until Aug 1 though.
Them: Hm. What's your name' Let me pull your file. (I tell them) Yes, it says here your lease isn't up until Aug 1.
Me. Correct
Them:(silence) . . . . . . . . . I don't understand what the problem is.
Me: The letter says your going to start showing my apartment if we don't renew by June 1 and we will have to leave when you find a new tenant. We're not going to renew so, is that just a typo or are you going to try to do that'
Them: Oh, no. We won't be doing that. But if we did we would call and let you know.
Me: So nobody is going to be in our apartment between June 1 and Aug 1'
Them: No. Just let me make a note that you won't be renewing your lease.
Me: OK. thank you. bye
The next day my wife gets a call from the office wanting to know if we are going to renew our lease.
Sorry this is so long. If you made it this far, you can see why. Find somewhere else, even if it is a bit more, or a bit smaller.
