My boyfriend and I have lived in 2 different buildings in this complex. The first building (840) was great. My apartment was pest free and just perfect. My boyfriend, who lived above me at the time, didn't have such a pleasant experience. He and his roommates battled bed bugs for many, many months, with minimal help from the office, until the boys set their own bug traps and brought them down to management...Of course with lots of dead bugs in them and rashes all over their bodies. Not only that, but their balcony had a wasp nest in the wood and management again took months to address that problem too. When the nest was finally destroyed, it was left on their balcony, next to their grill and thousands of dead wasps were left there in piles. It took days to clean that mess up. (What if children were occupying the apartment!'!) My boyfriend and I signed a 6 month lease with them this past May 2007, since we are actively looking to purchase a home and needed somewhere to stay in the meantime. My opinion of the management team and the cleanliness of their buildings has changed dramatically since moving into building 923. Our first few weeks in our new apartment were fine. No bugs, no loud neighbors, no one smoking in the halls, etc. We did notice, however, quite a few different ethnicities in the building, and at first that was not a problem. Around mid June my boyfriend started complaining about killing roaches in the bathroom and kitchen. I'd still not seen any by the end of June, so I brushed it off. It wasn't until the first week of July that I saw an enormous, brown adult cockroach weaving in and out of our refrigerator and into our utensil drawers. I was screaming for my boyfriend and we eventually killed it - but not without a fight...those things are FAST. My boyfriend and I consider ourselves to be very clean people. We don't leave dishes in the sink, food on the coffee table, hell, we don't even leave candy dishes filled without a lid on them. We dust, vaccuum, scrub and tidy weekly, along with our daily chores. Since the begining of July, I would accurately estimate that we've killed about 200 or more roaches of all ages from baby to adult in our fridge, bathroom, kitchen and living room. I can't leave a blanket on the couch overnight and lift it up the next day to fold without 2 or 3 roaches scattering out from underneath it. We have to throw our couch away because we are pretty sure they have infested it. All the while management is swearing up and down that the Orkin man comes out and treats the whole building (we are not the only one's complaining of the roaches). The Orkin man has been in to treat our apartment every 2 weeks since the begining of July and it's just about October. The management is refusing to compensate us in any way (I am pregnant now, and having pesticide treatements in our apartment is not only dangerous, but if I get sick from eating contaminated food in my refrigerator, I'm screwed). I am so disappointed in managements lack of interest in this issue and lack of resolution to it also. I would never recommend ANYONE who would enjoy a clean living environment to move here. Management has confessed that ours is not the only building infested with cockroaches, so please, if you value your health and your family's health, and your wallet, don't chose this complex. We are counting the days until our lease is terminated!!
