This is by far the worst place to live in Palatine. Over the course of 9 months so far, three cars have been hit overnight in the parking lot, and of course no note was left. In the first month living here, we had patio furniture stolen during the night, as well as a digital camera and cd's stolen from out of the car.

There is a nice infestation of house centipedes, picture attached, which are the most disgusting thing I have ever seen (picture attached). We frequently made a long trip to Meier's at 3 in the morning for bug spray because we could not get rid of them all. There is an exterminator that comes once a month, but he doesn't do anything like an exterminator should, and the centipedes are back the next day. We spend over $100 on traps, sprays, and powders.

The entire apartment is on a slant. The waterline for our fishtank is obviously on a slant, pencils roll right off the desk, don't try to use the stove, all anything placed in a skillet rolls right to the back and collects there.

There are blinds on the door that can be opened and closed with a string and pulley...too bad the string broke after a few weeks, and when the maintenance came to fix it, twice, they said they couldn't so we were out of luck with that one.

The carpet on the floors isn't connected under the baseboards, so there is a really ugly gap between the carpet and the wood, a breeding ground for our centipedes. Instead of spending money on making the apartments look nice, money was spent improving the lake, which looks exactly the same.

During a moderate rainstorm, water collected in the ceiling and left a big brown water mark.

Laundry costs $1.25 per load, and since the machines are so small, prepare on spending an average of $10.00 each time laundry needs to be done.

One of the deciding factors of why we chose to move here was because of a really nice woman who worked here, and she always did our best to help us out. She was fired almost immediately after we moved in for unknown reasons. She was a better person than the manager of the complex.

Just don't move here, there are plenty of places in/around the Palatine area for nearly the same rent, but better quality. Just look around, and don't be fooled by the model unit, which looks nice. By the way, every light in the model unit is turned on, and left on 24/7. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Yes. All too true. The buildings are cheaply built and most maint is a band-aid at best.
