Do not move here

I have been living in the Grove for about 3 months now and it seems like a year. This apartment looked good during our tour and it look as though it had everything my other 2 roommates and I needed... that was until we moved in.

First and foremost when we moved in our windows started to leak air. It was not a big deal because it was not cold so we did not know how bad it is. Now our windows leak cold air in every bedroom. My poor roommate had to go by a heater to keep her bedroom warm because it was so cold. All of us have became sick from the drafty windows and have to move our beds away from the cold air that blows in. They claim to have fixed our heat however our heat comes on and stays on for one minute then it shuts off. It is always running and it is making our heating bill very high.

Our master shower apparently leaked so bad everytime my roommate or I would take a shower that before we were even done with the lather, rinse, repeat Butch (The mantience man) would be knocking at our door claiming the shower leaked so bad that it made the ceiling in the apartment below us fall down 3 feet and be a huge bubble of water even though there was no water on the floor when he would come in there. Finally after a week he ended up putting a wing on the tub to keep the water in.

On top of that we had no water pressure in the shower. It takes me at least 20 minutes just to get the shampoo out of my hair and I have asked maintence to replace our shower head on several occasions however they claim that nothing is wrong with it so they can not. My roommates shower had the shower knobs just fall off.

Our water goes back and forth from cold to hot at least 6 or 7 times during one shower. If someone in east Peoria flushes the toliet you will feel it in this shower.

Our main toliet was broken for at least 2 days and when I called and spoke to Liz about it she said.. well we will fix it you have two toliets its not an emergency.

Then of course I am sure you read about our screendoor. It is still sitting on the hinge with a hole in it. It never has worked since we moved in.

Now our problem is with the dishwasher. Like my roommmate said they will get around to it if it is not an emergency.
Thomas told me on the phone this morning "Did not use that tone with me because I will make sure nothing gets fixed in your apartment but I run the show around here" However he will not claim he said that because well would you'

The apartments used to be condemed and our apartment was not lived in for a long time and now we have to pay the price.

This apartment looked good when they had it dolled up and did not give you time to really test everything out however now that we have to live here everyday we see how truly bad it really is.

Do not live here. I would hate for people to fall into the same thing that me and my roommates had. The bad thing is we do not have anywhere else to go on such sort notice or I can tell you we would say goodbye to the grove and the horror we have been through already. mgFDbN4-dhkSMZ7zRmVH

Yeah it seems that you complain more about the apartment than enjoy the things that make this apartment cheap, affordable, and dependable for college kids like me. Quit complaining and try and find the good in everyplace. Granted this place is not the best or the Hilton however they do not want blood to live here.

I'm a college kid too and there's a big difference between cheap, dependable apartments and these apartments. Maybe you haven't taken that class at college yet, but when most of your major amenities (i.e. heat/air conditioning, water) don't work the way they should, it's a problem. I'm not asking for the Hilton, or even anything close. I just want my stuff to work, bottom line.

Seems like the more logical thing would be to talk to the property manager about what can be done or asked to move to a different apartment that would better suit your needs. Wouldn't that make more sense then just posting a bunch of complaints to people that have no control over your issues at hand.

I went on a tour of this property and also saw a 3 bedroom, and everyone was very nice, they also told me that if I were truly interested in moving that I would need to give a security deposit....that is how all properties work....are you an idiot??? All apartments are first come first serve, if you want it you have to hold it with money...and another thing anyone would have an attitude if they are treated the way you treated them, I wouldn't be nice to you either. If you don't like living in an apartment....get a house!!

There maybe a couple of complaints here that aren't exrtremely out of hand...cold water during a shower rings a bell...but college student needing cheap place or not...some conditions are unacceptable. no heat. bad. broken toilet. bad. water leak. bad. especially with the heat in the winter time....best of luck to you for the remainder of your lease.
