I hate it here. The apartments are ok, but are in need of serious updates. I still have a trash compactor in my apartment, and it is positioned such that I cant open the dishwasher all the way.
The management flat out doesnt care about anything. The "ONE" washer in the building stopped draining and filled up with water. They told me that they could not do anything about it because it was owned by a private company. Ok, that is understandable. However what is rediculous is that they would not even take the water out of it so that the kids that constantly run around the building can play with it and potentiall get sick from it. It was like this for over a week and they refused to let us into another building to use the washer there.
They refuse to prorate rent at the end of a tenancy. I just bought a house and am closing on the 28th. I wanted to pay for another week just in case something went wrong with the closing. No deal. I either have to pay for the whole month or get out in 3 days. Plus they charge you 2 months rent to break you lease plus a $250 "marketing" fee and the cost of cleaning and re-painting.
They did offer me a corporate discount. 2.5% Woohoo!
They refused to give my wife keys to the apartment because we only put in one application when we moved here, which did not have a space for spouse. But they suggested that we go to Wal-Mart and have copies made. Come to think of it, they never did give us the second set of keys even after her application was processed.
I have not had a problem with maintainance. We have only had a few small problems and they have fixed them quickly.
Then there is the neighboors. The people who live above me like to play their stereo at levels that shake my apartment. I dont even mind this so much when they do it on Friday or Saturday night before they go out, but when they come back at 4AM and turn it back on, or when they do this at midnight on a work night, it becomes a problem. The people who live next to me have very large gatherings on occasion. They are not loud, but I counted 26 (I am not exagerating this, I actually counted them) pairs of shoes in the hallway during one of these. Not of top of each other, just covering better than half the width of the hallway.
They allow dogs which is fine. I love dogs. What I dont love are dog owners who dont have the consideration to pick up after them. Their fix to this. A threat of a $25 fine. Obviously it has not solved the problem.
All I can say is, after living here, I am looking forward to my next visit to the proctologist.
