It all started out well enough. I liked the place because of its location. I was more than willing to pay for that. Unfortunately, there were very few times when I didn't find the apartment manager rude and uniformed. I had a 6 month lease so I paid $20 extra a month for that. One of my biggest issues was the internet service provider. Prairie Lakes has a contract with Appia communications (their name currently but this has probably changed already), where you can get services ranging from dial up to high speed. You cannot go through ANY other ISP. Being used to having high speed internet, I paid $50 extra (tacked onto the rent) for the service. I use the term service lightly, as there were frequent outages. The service was highly unreliable. The customer service number I was given was not helpful either. I made frequent calls to them only to find the people very rude. I tried calling the corporate office of Prairie Lakes to complain and my calls were never returned. When I did get to talk to someone, I was treated rudely as well. At one point, I was hung up on. This ISP is a hack. I tried to information on them and even the BBB has not heard of them (but after I get done, they will). Upon my move out date, the apartment manager became increasingly rude (she was very happy when I was paying almost $2,000 to move in). I arranged a walk through but she changed the dates and the locks, then tried to get me to sign a blank check out sheet. I was misinformed about the cable services, the internet service, and finally the move-in amounts (since I was charged an additional $5, which they took out of my deposit). Even still, I paid everything I was asked to pay and I paid it on time if not early. For the price, the walls are not very sound proof. I could hear every move my upstairs neighbors made. I could hear every door slam of my neighbor below me. I could hear the stereos of each neighbor on either side of me. If you do move in, don't bother ever trying to call the office. You can leave a message but its not likely that your call will be returned on that day. If you do get to talk to the manager, you will get the impression that you are just wasting her time. It always seemed like a rush to get me off the phone even when I just had quick questions. This place is just not worth it. I would strongly advise that you look elsewhere. They are more cost efficient places in Peoria to live, at least where you can be afforded more options and nicer people.
