Living at Prairie Lakes Apartments is like living in a communist country. They are in control of everything, ie.. internet, water temp, direct tv, furnace, etc... The office staff is very unprofessional. I attempted to file a complaint with the home office about the office staff but they would not return my telephone call. If I treat people the way the office staff has treated me I would NOT be in business. I also have other concerns pertaining to the amount of noise from the apartments next to me along with the ODOR!! I am on the top floor and every day the people on the bottom flood cook with foreign spices and the smell rises right into my apartment. I've tried everything to get rid of the odor. According to the office staff the people living downstairs are allowed to leave their front door and slider open to air out the smell from their apartment as they have every right to do this but I have no right to complain that my apartment stays stinky. Also, I have one vehicle and depending on what time of the day you come home determines whether you get a space next to your building or if you have to park somewhere on the other side of the lake. I already have a hike up three flights with groceries. My main concern remains with the unfriendly, unpleasant office staff. If only the apartment complex would hire nice, professional people all the other problems would seem minimal.

My husband and I being transferred from S Louis to Peoria and came to town for two days of apartment hunting. Armed with an apartment guide, we started going from one to another. I called Prairie Lakes on Monday, was told they had a waiting list, but I still said we would stop by to look. Althought my initial impression from the phone was rude, the newness of the complex still seems important. When we got there, the office was closed for lunch. We wasted time for an hour and came back. We were asked if we had an appointment. When I said no, the "gentleman" quite rudely told me they only show with appointments! In the guide and on the phone there was no mention of appointments required. We left and no one seemed to care. That was the ONLY complex we ran into rude staff. If they treat residents like this before the lease is signed, imagine how they will be later!
