I would say keep out of this place in Winter especially, Cause there would be not heet. When you the rent the apartment they say the heat is free. Yes its free because you dont get heat into your apartment. When ever there is a serious whether condition all they tell is our boilers are having problems. This cant happen every single time when the wether is bad.

In response to reddycrk's previous post: First of all, use spell check for Christ's sake.Whether? heet?
And, I've had a couple of problems with the heat which the maintenance staff has been quite quick to remedy. Because we have steam/water heat, there is a risk that air will get in the lines. It happens. Good place to rent from. Only Broadband you can get is WOW cable, which isn't bad, but if you like options, you have none.

Yeah this has totally not been true in my case. In fact my apartment is very warm. I have never had a problem with heat at all at Briarwood. I am glad I chose to move here.

I've had no problems with the maintenance including water, heat, gas whatsoever. The management is nice and flexible - but only until after Jackie left. I lived here for a year and I renewed my lease for a second year. Everything seems to be fine except for when I was on vacation out of the country for 2 weeks due to family emergency, Jackie ordered to have my car towed - and that's on the night I came back from vacation and after I had driven my car to go grocery shopping. I can only say, you are lucky to not need to deal with her anymore if you choose to live here. The quality of the apartments is definitely unbeatable in the area.

I used to live on the northside of the dog building - 1425 - on the 1st floor. In regards to heat, when it got very cold the apartment became very cold. Regardless of what I would set the thermostat at, I'd actually get frost on the patio door! I'd call maintenance each year (2000 - 2004) and I was told it was because the heat has to be equally distributed throughout the building or something to that affect. It was not a good place to rent from towards the end.

I had a first floor apartment and the hot water heat worked excellent in the 1425 building, but it depends on what direction your apartment faces. And yes, the heating system is very, very old, BUT it's the best heat vs forced air.

My recommendation is to purchase a Honeywell remote control ceramic heater for more comfort.
