For the record, I lived in Beacon Hill for a year and rarely if ever heard of these muggings and car break-ins that are being posted on this board. I rarely if ever felt unsafe coming home at all hours of the night.

This place isn't as bad as a lot of people say it is, and you could certainly do worse especially in Rockford. The apartments are pretty spacious, especially considering the price. Tons of closet room, great balconies, tons of room in the main living area. Also the maintenance staff I dealt with was prompt and friendly. Every time I had a problem, they took care of it rather quick considering the size of the complex. They're also fairly flexible with their lease options as well...if you want to go month to month, you can.

That being said, the place also leaves a lot to be desired. There is no high speed internet, which means you have to get a land line and dial up service if you want to use the internet. Believe me when I say that you do not know how great high speed internet is until you've lived with dial up. The parking lot was not well lit and the cable service you pay for gets you a limited amount of channels. Location wise, it's close to a couple of gas stations but that's it - nightlife, supermarkets and restaurants are all at least a 15 minute drive away.

Bottom line...if you're young and don't have a family and need to be in Rockford right away, it's not a bad place to live. However make sure you explore all other options before signing that lease.

Whoever wrote this review must work for Beacon Hill or Edward Rose (the company that owns Beacon Hill) because this is utter nonsense. Everything good about this review is false. I have lived here in this hole for 3 years and I know just what a dump it is. Do yourself a favor and forget you ever heard of this place they will rob you blind by charging you fees without telling you what they are for and if you don't pay it they sick their bulldog lawyer on you and you get a summons processor harrassing you at your door in the middle of the night. I admit I have been a couple of days late on my rent in 3 years and even if you pay your rent on time thay will still try to jack you out of 40 or 50 bucks extra every month and they will not tell you why!!!
