I lived at Hampton Ridge for almost 3 years. Towards the end of my lease, someone who had key access to my apartment burglarized my apartment. Besides my fianc?? and myself, no other people besides the management of this property had keys to my apartment. This left only two disturbing options:

1.Someone who works for Hampton Properties unlawfully entered my apartment.
2.Hampton Properties negligently allowed keys to my apartment to fall into the hands of unknown people.

I filed a report with the Rockford police, but I also felt it to be my moral responsibility to tell others about my situation so that they will know that it may be wise to be careful with regards to their personal safety and belongings if they choose to live here. The complex is not as safe as the managements leads people to believe, and I found the management of Hampton Properties to be alarmingly uncaring and nonchalant concerning this incident. They refused to change the lock on my apartment eventhough I felt very unsafe staying in my apartment knowing someone had the keys. They finally said they would change the locks but only if I would pay them $50 which I thought was ridiculous. I have spoken with other people who have lived at Hampton Ridge and they had similar complaints about crime and about uncaring staff. I suggest checking with the police to learn about crime rates at Hampton Ridge before signing a lease. I definitely DO NOT recommend this complex.
