I lived at Hampton Ridge for 6 months and didn't have really have any issues. My perspective may be a little different since it was short term, furnished living situation but I picked it online from out of state and was happy with the results. Although I overpaid for the furnishings, it's a nice area for Rockford and compared to some of the other options in the area/not too far from my company, I thought it was very nice.

For a permanent living situation I may have been more critical but even then my main complaint would be the old kitchen appliances. Always felt safe and no one touched my brand new $30k car parked out front (I was too cheap to spring for the garage like I should have in the winter). Neighbors were very quiet (except for one noisy domestic incident that freaked me out...

One thing that bothered me was that I went home for Christmas and came back to note under the door that someone would be in my apartment... so they had already came and gone.

Overall, typical apartment complex with nothing too bad. Would recommend checking it out.
