I have lived at the Lotus Garden Apartments for a few months now, and I am very pleased with them. The apartment was freshly painted with brand new carpeting when I moved in. The stove/oven is fairly new, however the refrigerator was pretty disgusting- covered in rust inside and out, the refrigerator is also quite old and small. The blinds on the windows were caked with dirt and dust and had to take them down and scrub them myself.

The windows don't seal very well, so it is a little drafty with water damage under the windows and under the sinks. It isn't the cleanest place in the world, and smells like smoke in the hallways, but it's a great location and a good place to live. I have never had problems with any bugs and live on the second floor. The elevator was not working when I moved in, however management was very accomodating offering to help with carrying groceries, or laundry up/down the stairs for those that have trouble. They also offered to pay delivery charges if you wanted to order your groceries until the elevator is fixed. All of my dealings with management have been great, they always answer my calls immediately and are kind and understanding about my problems. The assigned parking space is great, so you never have to worry about finding a spot, however there is no parking for visitors which has been tough.

The apartment is extremely quiet for an apartment complex. I cannot hear anything above me, and can only hear the occasional door slam or talking from the hallway, and can hear the muffled noise of a TV next door. However, by the time I go to bed at 11pm, it is complete silence. The neighbors are very friendly and considerate.

I feel very safe in the neighborhood and building. It is near the expressway, so you can hear the loud wind noise from that, but only unless you try to listen for it. The apartments have a doorknob lock, deadbolt lock, and chain. They also have a trash chute on every floor, and plenty of washer and dryers in the basement. There are quite a few closets in the apartments and also additional storage units available in the basement. The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and they have both gas and charcoal grills available in the courtyard for use.

The elevator is tiny and staircase is narrow so don't plan on bringing any large furniture if you live on the second or third floor. The intercom system, also, will only work if you buy AT&T home phone service. So for those of us that just use our cell phones, you cannot use the intercom/buzzer system. The water pressure is great in the shower, but a little weak in the sinks- which makes dishwashing a little harder than it should be. There are no dishwashers. Gas cooking, gas heat and water are paid for by the landlord. Tenants only pay electric and cable/internet. There are window units for air conditioning under each window, but no thermostat to control the heat, it seems to be a little too warm in the winter, but you can always open you window to control the temp in your apartment. I also found that the water temp in the shower can be scalding hot even when only the cold is on, but it depends on teThere are no electrical outlets in the bathroom and no overhead lighting in the bedrooms or living room/dining room areas. So you will need extension cords and lots of lamps!

So there are some pros and cons to this place, but overall it is a great place to live.
