Chatham Hills apartments are in a good location, they are very spacious, and in decent condition.

The local property managers, however, leave a lot to be desired. They are rude and unprofessional. It seemed like every time I was in the rental office the office managers were having some sort of public argument with a tenant over a variety of topics. Every time that I had a comment, complaint or maintenance
request, the office staff's first response was that of blame and argument. Customer service was simply not very important to them.

There was also the issue of privacy. On several (8 ) occasions in my 2 year stay I had
"Maintenance" or other people in my apartment, unannounced and unauthorized.
In Illinois the law states that the landlord
,"May not enter your rental unit without your prior consent unless an emergency exists." The property mangers at Chatham Hills don't seem to understand the law
In regards to this. I was only notified on 3 of their ??visits??.

I worry about the safety of the maintenance people and other staff that are entering
Apartments. On two occasions when my apartment was "invaded" I was home.
On one occasion I thought the person in my apartment was a burglar and armed myself with a handgun (legally) to protect myself.
The dumb ass who entered my apartment and
'Ran' into me doesn't know to this day how close they were to being shot.

My hope is that Nolan Property Management will do something to remedy the poor management and customer service at the Chatham Hills location. They really have a good apartment community, one that could stand out in Springfield.
