Not what I expected and not in a good way

This looks like such a great place to live from the outside and with the ammenities like a pool, fitness center, etc. I was new to the town of Springfield when I rented at Chatham Hills so I had no feedback on what it was really like to live there.
First, the good:
Most of my neighbors were friendly
The rent price, was not terrible
The maintenance staff was friendly and helpful
The bad:
After living there less than 2 months, my sister's crappy car was broken into and her stereo and radar detector were stolen.
Don't quote me on this but I think it's section 8 housing
While I was living there, a resident in another building committed suicide there
At least 1 person was a drug dealer in my apartment building
People would have sex in the hot tub b/c it has 24hr access with an an access key
In conclusion, the bad outweighs the good from when I lived there. Not sure how it is now, if there's new management or if it is no longer section 8. Ask around and ask the management LOTS of questions if you do pursue living there.

Nope hasn't changed a bit! Still a crap hole. I am not sure about the sec 8 either, but I know many residents have organizations of some sort paying thier rent for them. I've overheard conversations in the office, and thier is a large number of unemployed residents..someones paying thier rent! Wish I could get someone to cover mine!!
Hey mwhite you want to sublet my apartment since ya love this place so much!

I have lived here for years and never had anything like that happen here. I know for a fact it in not section 8. It doesn't look like section 8 nor do my neighbors. I've never heard of anyone comitting suicide here. What building do you live in? I checked with the police officer that lives here and they said it never happened. I personally like the fitness center being open 24 hours. I work a the 3rd shift at the hospital and it's nice to work out when I get off. I've never seen anything like that. It's hardly ever busy when I'm in there.

mwhite is a CH staff person. Everyone who's ever lived in CH has considered it among the biggest mistakes of their lives. It's a crap-hole run by human trash who will look you in the eye and lie about the leasing terms.
When you come back with questions like, ??why are you sending me bills for $3000 after I came down to your office and personally told you that I'm moving at the end of the month??? You'll get answers like, ??sorry, you didn't ??sign the form?? so you owe us the last 2 months rent plus an additional 1 months rent as a fine, per the fine print in the agreement.??
According to their staff, you can't ??expect?? them to provide you with the paperwork ?? you have to ask for it. And even if they tell you ??okay, you??re all set?? it??s not their fault that you didn't ??know about the form.?? They??ll tell you with a self-satisfied "I just ----ed you over and I'm proud of it" smile their face that you're still legally obligated to pay $3000.
This is common practice at CH and I've communicated with over 20 people that this has happened to.
CH staff should be in jail, not in business. Don't ever rent from CH. It will be the biggest mistake you ever made in your life.

It's been quite a few years since I lived at Chatham Hills but wanted to make it a point to rate it on this website because, as my review states, it looks great from the outside, but there are some shady things that go on there. I actually have a friend who did or still does maintenance there, so I wouldn't just bash the place where my friend worked. I lived in a 2br and then a 1br but can't remember the building number. I would have to agree with the anonymous users comment and say that I've never told anyone "I live at Chatham Hills" and gotten any response other than gasps or "Ooooh. How's that working out for you." All and all, I try to be positive and give people the benfit of the doubt, so maybe things have changed in the 4 years since I lived there.

i know its not section 8 because the prices are way to high!! i have lived here for almost three years and honestly im comfortable here and have never had any problems with theft for anything of that nature....we pay 650 for a one bedroom which is just rediculous since all the other apartment around here are 350 to 450 for a one bedroom but that is also to keep certain people out of here...i like the staff in the office but i do know they are very very deceiving at times....i have never had any problems with my apartment this past summer my air conditioner stopped working and first thing the next morning they were putting a brand new one in...i have great neighbors, they are either very friendly and i have gotten to know them well or they keep to themselves...they just did a remodel on the gym and it looks great!!! and they always keep the pool clean, grass cut, and trash picked up.....i do love it here but will most likely move when my lease is up because i can save so much going somewhere else...i have heard about the crap they pull when people move out so that is a little scary and i do know of 3 different people sueing them because of it...overall i think this is a good place to live and dont think that it should be looked at any other way...i have lived in apartment complexes that were hell compared to this place....
