OK if you're willing to deal with it

Water is off again today with no advance notice that I saw (came in the south parking lot door last night). There IS a little sign at the main entrance. Now I'm sitting here unable to shower before work. So I'll take this time to write a review. :) Water is off at least twice a month and the management company is too cheap to install the proper equipment to allow individual risers to be turned off at a time. This is right from the plumbers mouth....they've given them a quote.
The building is way old (late 1960's), and the walls are thin (you can hear neighbors' babies crying at 3am, bathroom doors closing, and toilets flushing all the time). Don't bother bringing your surround sound or even your computer subwoofer, because someone will complain and Joice will send you a letter or worse.
If you are near the elevators or trash compactor, you will hear them.
Appliances have been updated, but only when they've broken and with the base model. Cabinets are original in some apartments and some have been updated. Carpet is badly stained from previous tenants (it looked clean when you move in, but the stain comes back up from underneath). Carpet is replaced only when its totally destroyed.
The basement always has standing water in it, and therefore is always damp. It will rust your car. On the plus side, it's one of the only places that has underground parking. You don't have to go outside in winter to get to your car, if you pay the additional $65 for a spot (and you'll need to get one by October or they'll be gone).
Laundry facilities work, but are inconvenient. Only 6 washers, 3 double size and 2 standard stacked dryers for the whole complex. Wash is $1, dry is $0.50/0.75 per half hour. Unless you like washing late at night, they'll probably be all in use. Most of the time one unit is broken. It took them 1 month to fix the dryer last time.
The elevators are not programmed correctly. You can push the down button on the first floor, only to get in a car and ride up to the 4th floor first, to find the person waiting there has already taken the other car and will be arriving in the basement before you. The south car's doors close immediately after you press a floor button, the north car's make you wait before the doors close. A car on the 4th floor will come all the way down to get you on the 1st, even if the other car is just in the basement. Doesn't matter if you press the up or down button, they act the same. You can press down at 1, and people coming up from B will stop at your floor and your down button will clear. You have to wait for them to leave and press down again, (or up, like I said it doesn't matter), or you can ride with them up and come back down on your own. Until just recently the south car smelled like puke.
You'll have the choice of Comcast (poor) or AT&T Uverse (OK) for TV / phone / internet. Only exception is if you live on a south facing apt, then you might be able to get a dish service (temporary mounts only).
There is a pool, and it seems to be kept up pretty well. Didn't actually use it much.
The tennis court is abandoned. No nets, huge cracks, weeds growing up though. They really need to fix this.
They don't allow your kids to run and play outside your apartment. There were letters sent out last year that told us to send them to one of the parks nearby.
This is not a senior living apt, but there are a lot of seniors here. There is a senior complex next door (that looks much nicer).
Outside parking gets close to full sometimes, but I've always found a spot. You'll have to walk a bit though. This sucks when you have groceries. They've provided some carts that you can use in the basement, but most of the time they are all gone because the previous person leaves them in their apt all night. (esp Fri, Sat nights)
There are 2 handicapped spots near the doors, they are always full. Only the main doors are semi-handicapped accessible. They do not have door openers. The door springs are so strong and doors are so narrow, its almost impossible for a non-handicapped person with just a bag or two to get their key out, get the door unlocked and opened and then get through it. You'll most likely get your foot stuck as you walk through.
