My favorite apartment so far in the Chicago area

There's plenty of parking, but the configuration of the apartment complex inhibits you from always being able to park next to your building.
I rarely heard people from my apartment. You can hear people in the hall or outside, but that's typical.
The pictures I saw of the apartment complex make the grounds look really nice. They could use a little more upkeep, though.
I can only think of a couple of safety concerns. Some younger kids were living in the same building as me at one point. It wasn't long after they moved in that I noticed the lamp post outside my window was broken. It was a long time before that got fixed, so lighting was poor in the meantime. Around the same point in time, I had an instance of someone coming up to my window and peering in (around midnight). Though I now attribute that more to kids being stupid as opposed to an unsafe situation, it was still a frightening experience at the time. The fire/safety door didn't always shut all the way, either, but I never really felt unsafe.
The building had it's ups and downs. The best feature was the heater, which kept the apartment at a nice, cozy temperature in the winter. Whether by coincidence or intention, the bathroom floor was also heated (but that could just be on the 1st floor). The appliances were nice, but I had problems with the kitchen sink drain leaking when I ran the disposal. The building is definitely showing some age from the inside (carpet pulling away from walls, tile is stained and a tad buckled, etc...)
I only had one maintenance issue while I was at Briar Brook, and it was fixed within a couple of days (I forget the problem now). On the downside, I came home to a new air conditioner once. Evidently, someone else had complained about their air conditioner, but the management staff wrote down the wrong unit number. So, my good air conditioner got replaced. This wasn't any big deal, except that the new one had problems, and the original did not.
I was really impressed with the office staff. They were always really friendly with me, and the complex manager would speak with me as if she was earnestly interested in what I had to say. It probably helped that I always paid on time and wasn't a nuisance to my neighbors.
