A Good Looking Coverup

I have lived in Briarbrook for a year and a half now. I lived in the old apartments and moved into the remodels. I will admit that the remodels appear much nicer then the old apartments. However, the rent went up nearly $250 and I don't think it was worth it. The washer and dryer that is in our unit is miserable. I seriously had to dry my clothes 3 times on a 60 minute cycle. They are the stacking kind and they are awful. The "hardwood" floors are laminate. The dish washer is extremely small.
I have very loud neighbors and I can hear them at all hours of the night. They live at one end and we live at the other. The walls are awful when it comes to sound cancelling. The parking is ok and that is because I honestly think half of the residents left when the new management came in. There has been no quiet for quite some time because they have been doing construction for a year. They start at 6 am and have woke me up a bunch of times.
They recently removed our dumpsters to help the appearance of the complex. However, I now have to walk far, nearly two blocks far, just to throw my trash out. There is one spot and it is a compactor. Note, that in retail noone under the age of 18 can operate these machines and yet they have this out for any child to play with.
I had a pipe burst in my kitchen and bathroom and my bedroom. It flooded everyone underneath me and they merely painted the walls to cover up the mess.
On new years, a neighbor fell through the roof because he was in the attic for no reason. Not there fault, however, when I called the complex to complain about how ridiculous it was that I had to deal with this kind of stuff they didn't even return my phone call.
I was taking a shower and right before I could rinse my hair they turned the water off. I called to tell them I was showering and the lady told me they didn't turn the water off and that it should be fine. I explained I needed to get to work and needed to get rinsed off. She suggested the toilet and that she would call me back. I waited 35 minutes with no water. I finally just left for work. My girlfriend called to complain and the lady told her that it was only off for 10 minutes and there was nothing to worry about. They have turned off our water multiple times without telling us.
The bottom line is this.. The place is overpriced. It is not worth the rent that I pay. I am moving into a bigger place with less rent and in a nicer community. I don't understand why they think they can charge this much. The place looks nice but it is a coverup. Management is not willing to listen to the tenants. I would NEVER live here again. Period.

Wow, you had it as bad as we did. We moved out a while ago but had major problems with leaking pipes from upstairs and they painted over while I'm sure mold grew in the walls and under the carpet. We had problems with sewage back up, noisy renovations including a hole they cut through the wall! You are smart to leave there. They don't care about their tenants and will never apologize or offer compensation.

We've lived here for almost a year, and have not experienced any of those problems. Our neighbors are extremely respectful, and so are we. We went through a rough winter, and did not experience any plumbing problems. We live in an older complex, therefore the problems you experienced can be problems experienced anywhere just not Briarbrook. We've never had sewage issues. In the time we've been here staff has been nothing but excellent. Donna, Jetta, and Jennifer will go beyond others expectations. Renovations are near done, and the property looks awesome to us! We love the stackable washer and dryer. The appliances are a good BRAND name (Whirlpool) Cant imagine why someone would complain about good appliances that are brand new. Oh and one other thing, management does listen to tenants. I recommend Briarbrook, and will continue to live here.
