"LUXURY LIVING".....NOT!!!
The first thing you need to know is that no animals are allowed except for the Section 8 creatures that already live here. Not to mention the geese that crap EVERYWHERE, and make noise and try to attack you 24/7 especially from March (mating season) all the way to December.
I wish this website existed before I moved in. They tout this place as a community for respectable and professional people, but there are plenty of low-lifes here not to mention a "used-car sales scam" style of management. I had so many problems with this place and the staff that I could write a short book on it, honestly, but I will try to keep this to the point.
For starters, problems with noise and disrespectful neighbors never get addressed by the staff, or at least never to the extent in order to resolve the issue. I witnessed on more than one occasion police arriving literally by the dozens to restore order when huge parties of one tenant would get out of control by many many uninvited thug "visitors". Litter, beer cans, condoms, and even bras would be scattered about our lot the mornings after these occurrences. One time our neighbor was arrested for destroying his apartment, disturbing the peace, and assaulting his girlfriend.
Management once made another one of their huge mistakes. They botched the coordination and planning of the parking lot blacktopping project with their hired contractors. The result: Several abiding tenants had their cars towed off of the property simply because they parked where they were specifically instructed to by management. I was one of the unlucky ones, and my motorcycle was towed and significantly damaged in the process. When I brought this to the attention of the office, they denied any wrong doing, played dumb, took offense to my concerns, told me they were not responsible and to take up legal action with the towing company, closed the book on the matter, and didn't even apologize or show the slightest care.
On the first day I moved in I got yelled at by the office for using the elevator to move my things. They actually forgot a) that I was moving in, and, b) that I had reserved the elevator WITH THEM to move in.
THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING. ONLY CONTINUE IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THIS PROPERTY.
I lived there while saving for a down payment on a house when I was first starting out. The problems just progressed each year instead of improving. I moved into a 1br for $675/mo. By the time I moved out they wanted to renew my lease but at $1100/mo (STILL FOR A 1BR, AND I LEFT IN 2001), along with new additional costs to the tenants(ACCORDING TO THEIR NEW IMPROVED POLICY)which would be: TRASH REMOVAL, SEWAGE, GAS, WATER...at least an additional $200 for this alone. To avoid auto damage, theft, or getting plowed in by snow, indoor parking will run you an additional $150/mo on yet another contract, and even this parking is only about 50% secure. This is on top of the standard utilities like electricity that you already pay for. Do the math, and now we're approaching the $2000 marker, and still talking about a 1BR/1BA apt.
Essentially they take no responsibility in assisting the tenant in any way except, to not serve or respect their loyal tenants, and guaranteed increase in rent every year, and creating new costs for the tenant to pay for, which should already be included in your rent. A person could mortgage a home, to own, with all expenses included, in a nice neighborhood without a *itchy, incompetent, and ignorant staff, for much cheaper than this place.
If you do not want to renew, they will be nice to you to try to con you into staying. When you definitely decide no, now you are a nobody to them, like a second-class citizen.
They will tell you 60 days verbal notice is sufficient to move out. When you move out they will tell you it must be in writing and that they never told you verbal notice was acceptable. (They LIE, Kathy the manager herself, did this with me. I don't know if she is still there.)Then they tell you that you are responsible for another whole year's lease, hire a collection agency, and make negative entries to your credit report.
Forget about your security deposit, and figure at least another easy $300 if the apartment is vacated anything less than in immaculate condition. They stop at nothing. I even spoke to corporate at Finger Co. in TX, to try to resolve the move-out issues and they accused me of lying and harassing their staff at Woodland Crk.
>>>>>Now one may ask how all this could be true when there are so many positive reviews at the same time. I alone can think of 2 quick logical answers: The first one is obvious--- Woodland Creek and/or Finger Co...need I say more on that one' The second one has to do with the tenants themselves. Some people simply let others walk all over them and don't even give it a second thought. Or if these people think Woodland Creek is so fantastic, then it might make one wonder what their standards are or what it was like where they lived previously.
I would never live there again or recommend it to anyone. I was a MODEL tenant. I always paid rent ahead of time. I NEVER caused problems for ANYONE. The better I was, the worse I was treated, and the worse it got. It is true: nice people finish last, especially at Woodland Creek. There is so much more I could tell but I've already written several pages. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
But the good news is that you can be the lucky ones who will be spared all of this trouble since you have been informed by the tenants themselves who already have been through this calamity. Don't spend your hard-earned money here. These people are wolves dressed in sheep's costumes. Don't believe them, don't give them the time of day, and don't trust them for anything! Guaranteed with time, the good and smart people will be gone from here, and it will become as bad as any other complex in Wheeling or Prospect Hts.
