The staff here seems all friendly and nice before you sign the lease, but as soon as they have you hooked, everything changes. Moving in was a horrible experience. The staff was mean to my parents who helped me move; they said they would reserve an elevator for us all day, and would have moving carts down in the basement to help. Neither was true. It took me all day using one cart and waiting for the ONE elevator that was working. Elevators are ALWAYS breaking down in the building.
My roommate & I have been waiting for 9 months to get our name on the door downstairs, and it still isn't on there. We put a request in to fix our dishwasher 8 months ago (in SEPTEMBER!!) and we keep calling about it, and now it's MAY, and still no working dishwasher!! Safety is an issue too. They won't even fix our backdoor that hasn't been able to lock since we moved in!
Poor insulation throughout the apartment. It's freezing in the winter and the air conditioning is worthless in the summer, with little ability to draw a breeze through the apartment. Expect to wake up sweating each summer night. The ventilation is horrible too; neither of us smoke and we come home to an apartment smelling like a million lit cigarrettes. Oh, and expect the most EXPENSIVE water bill ever! There is no way 2 of us use $70 of water each month. You get charged for the whole building's use, and then divided based on how they decide to do it; and then they charge for laundry too!
The pool has very sketchy people hanging around, and the lake is NASTY! The lights around the running path are never working, and I'm scared to run alone out there. Inadequate fitness equipment in the workout room too.
Don't expect any leniency if you are a perfect tenant who pays your rent on time every month and causes no problems. My roommate & I have always been on-time for rent. On April 4th we received a notice under the door saying our lease was going to be terminated in 10 days because they had not received my roommate's rent check from April 1st. FOUR DAYS LATE!! And the thing is, she turned it in on April 4th, but the staff collected the checks before that and sent out our termination notice; which, by the way, didn't even seem legal!
It's an over-priced lemon of an apartment, and it definitely has ruined my renting experience.
