Insulting to the renter

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I lived here, my first year in Illinois. Having moved in, in July, I ran the AC a bit. In early/mid September, I came home from work to find that the manager had turned the BUILDING'S compressor off, and the furnace on. My apartment was approximately 110 degrees (the outside temperature was about 80 degrees). When I called to complain, they stated it "was their policy" to convert from AC to heat on that date. My thermostat was still set for AC, so it blew hot air all day. Apparently, the renters are not smart enough to be able to control their own AC/heat (but we still pay for the electricity to run the blower).
The only time I called maintenance to repair a problem, it ended up taking three calls, for the first visit, then two return trips.
The apartment had a small patio (first floor), with a sliding glass door. The door would not shut all the way (gaps around the edges), and an aluminum bar was needed to keep it shut.
All of the apartments, on myside of the building, faced an open area; and it was normal to hear the neighbors arguing, or laughing, enough that I had to keep the TV turned up. I also had numerous issues with construction being done, in the apartment above me, in the middle of the night (hammering and sawing).
Upon returning from a weekend trip, I found a police business card in my door. It appeared that there had been a shooting in the apartment across from me, and they were interviewing all of the tenants. One of my neighbors explained this was not the first shooting/domestic violence problem the building had seen.
Upon lease renewal time, I was informed that I would also be expected to pay a $50/month increase to stay. I moved. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
