Amli is just so-so

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
I lived at Amli for a year and a half and just recently moved from there in April for a job transfer. My experience there was, for the most part, positive. There were several negatives that I do want to share if you move here.
First, the negatives: The office staff was always very friendly towards me, but I think sometimes there were on another planet. I received packages that I had no idea had came and nobody notified me about it. They ended up sending my package back because I didn't pick it up within the time frame...it happened 2 times...so if the management is reading this, you can at least make a courtesy call to the tenants to let them know a.) you have received a package, or b.)we are sending your package out if you don't pick it up. Yes, I guess it's my own fault if I don't pick it up, but how do I know someone sent me something and they didn't tell me'''
Also, if the management staff is reading this, can you please make ALL the inside/outside access doors on the building have that swipe station to get in. There's one door on building 3, and I'm assuming there's one at the other 3 buildings too, that doesn't have it and I had to walk all the way around to another door. I never propped open the door, but others I know have...just a suggestion. I'm not lazy by any means, but it doens't make sense why a door with less usage would get one versus the one more people would use more based on the location of the door.
I also agree with someone else's comments about the fact that parking is BAD...so make sure you get a garage space!
ALSO...if you do get a garage space, I would personally pick it out because the staff will pick one for you and it will be big enough to fit a motorcycle, so walk through the garage first and pick about 10 spots because they have different sizes (I literally got a spot that was big enough for 2 cars)one of them will probably be open :) A helpful tip from ME.
I agree with another poster that the walls are paper thin. I heard my one neighbor snoring very badly, but I could never hear the other guy on the other side.
MOVING IN....I would rather have the dentist drill on my teeth for an hour than ever go through the moving in process here again. I've moved 9 times in 10 years and this was the worst move in I ever had. The freight elevator to move in is on one side of the building and my apartment was clear on the other side of it!!! BAD!!! Another helpful tip from ME, move next to the freight elevator instead of 15 doors down. I actually had movers move me out because I wasn't going to put anyone I knew through the agony, including myself!!!
I'll talk about my positives in a second, but I have one more thought. I thought it was overly ridiculous about the different prices for apartments. It was more expensive to have black appliances than white and it was more expensive to be on the golfview and of course, the different layouts...I at least got my layout on the parking lot side...so I was happy because it was less money a month. But, you know what, I'll just come right out and say it: they do nickel and dime you here because you do pay for everything....literally.
Ok...so the positives: My apartment was great and I loved the layout. I had a 2 bedroom. Walk-in closets. Liked the garden tub/shower. I liked the design of the kitchen with the flooring and layout. I will say that the maintenance staff here ROCKED!!! If I ever had a problem, you were great, so if you're reading this, thank you!!! I also loved the proximity to the movie theater and all of the other restaurants and services that are literally a 5 minute walk away, 30 seconds by car. I LOVED the fitness center and cardio area!!! It's open 24/7...ok...so it's not Gold's Gym, but for an apartment complex, I'm impressed. The pool area is really great. Another suggestion is to go the pool during the week because on the weekends, after 12PM, you're probably not going to get a chair, unless you're by yourself or there's a downpour.
So, I guess you can decide for yourself if you want to move here...I would move back if it was cheaper, paid movers to move me in, and if the office would give me a call for my packages - you had my number, why didn't you use it!!! Oh...that's right, maybe you were calling your other tenants when they couldn't pay the high rent...
