To begin with, management tries to bully everyone into being friends with everyone else. It's like a little cult.
Second, it is not cheap, they raise your rent every year, and the buildings are very old.
Third, parking can get very bad. During the winter they rarely plow, and when they do they leave piles of salt everywhere. It's like driving on gravel.
Fourth, maintenance is slow and does a very patchwork job.
Fifth, the appliances are almost all at least 15-20 years old.
Sixth, one washing machine for several units, and they raised the prices of washing and drying every year I lived there.
I could go on. For the money it costs to live here, I'd just go somewhere else.

Sorry if that's been your experience; it hasn't been mine. I've been here since 2007 and will stay as long as I can. Knowing who your neighbors are is hardly a cult. Management encourages community. If you want to hole yourself up and never say hi to anyone, then go ahead and be a crab. Monthly newsletters communicate, often with nice compliments for those who take time to plant gardens, flowers, or display seasonal decorations, helpful information about the complex. Parking lots are tight but I've gotten used to it. They salt liberally so you don't slip as there's an incline getting onto the main road. (Good thinking ahead!)
My keys were stolen from me at work, and I called maintenance to replace my locks. They were able to do it immediately, getting there earlier than I expected. The maintenance staff is good, knowledgable people. The home comes furnished with a fridge and oven/stove in good working order.
Sixth -- stop whining. There's three great laundromats within 3 minutes drive of Highcrest. Rent has increased everywhere. The money I pay to live here is worth the quality. I'm frugal, but I won't pinch pennies to live in an unsafe neighborhood. Highcrest is well-lit, safe, considerate of residents and well-kept. Sounds to me like you're never happy.

Its not a bad place to live but the applaiance are very old. My rent was suppose to be 1250 but ive paid as much as 1600 when they finish compiling utility expenses at the end of the month. The community manager is rude and the nieghbors who live by the rental office are her friends they are very clckish and rude to others that dont fit into thier social group. Dont ever have life situations happen to you while you live ther because the community manager will display no sympathy. I lost my job and was waiting for my unemployment benifits to come thru rent was due on the first on the 2nd day you get a 5 day notice. My unemployment finally came thru on the 9th and even thought i explained the situation to the community manager she sent my file to the lawyer and began eviction procedures...Wheres the compation i wasnt trying to skip out on my rent, just had some unfoseen circumstances...well she then told me to stop eviction proceedures i had to pay 2 months rent plus 500 dollars for the lawyer...how im unemployed the bad thing is the want everyone over 18 to go on the lease as adults so ck it out not only will i have eviction on my record so will my 22 yr old and my 18 year old..man we will neva be able to find a place to live so all i can say is neva be late or they will f... you
