If you like space, don't move here...

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
My husband and I moved here in Feb. 2003, with our then 9 month old son. Immediately, we were disappointed at the size of the master bedroom because the one in the model was larger.
It also took us three days to find how to turn on the heat because again, unlike the model, there is no central A/C or heat. In order to turn on the heat, you have to turn a knob on the register in the master bedroom. It is also very hard to regulate the temperature no matter what time of the year. We live on the second floor and the apartment below ours adds heat so the temperature in our apartment can go from 62 to 78 in an hour. In the summer, it is even worse. The ancient air conditioners are so loud we have to almost yell in order to have a conversation. In September, our toilet overflowed in the middle of the night and I couldn't hear it because the air conditioner was so loud. The poor woman downstairs spent six hours trying to stem the flood coming through the fan in her bathroom.
Speaking of which, the entire drain system in the bathroom has not worked properly in the 2.5 years we have lived here. We had maintenance come in to fix it, but it only lasted a few days. Our tub backs up so bad we stand in 3 inches of water while we take a shower.
Our dishwasher has never worked properly either - it leaves crud on everything so I have just given up on it. The maintenance crew is mostly useless - unless you are bi-lingual - because they aren't. It takes three days most of the time to get maintenance to respond. Someone threw up on the carpet in the front entrance of our building and it took two days for someone to come and clean it up.
The main door of our building is constantly breaking. The lock will either lock you in or out permanently or it won't lock at all.
Noise is a serious problem. Most of the neighbors don't care at all about how loud they are.
Speeding is also very serious - the posted speed limits are at 15 m/h but most of the drivers go through at 30 - 40 m/h. It is a miracle that no one has been killed.
The landscaping is quite spectacular until the dog days of summer when the ponds start scumming over and stinking of goose poop. The goose problem is also terrible.
Now they are trying to change the name of the complex to Natural Falls Resort Apartments. This is a joke! There is nothing natural about concrete waterfalls and the apartments are FAR from being a RESORT! They are SO small - I am so glad we are getting out. All it has been for the last nearly three years is a roof over our heads. A rather expensive roof at that. I have been very disappointed with the whole experience.
One final warning - they are renovating apartments as people move out - so those of you who are looking to move in here, they will probably be charging exhorbitant sums from now on. Look at it this way, if you can afford to pay rent (ours was $825 - 2 bedroom apt - the first year, $875 the second and third), you can afford to pay a mortgage. Don't waste your hard earned money on this place.
