Money-grubbing, unhelpful snots in the office

The apartments are tolerable, although a little overpriced given what they are. You're going to deal with armies of spiders every year in the summer, but that's just because of the lake. Monarch's deal with DirectTV makes it a huge pain to get cable Internet, or to get the DirectTV disconnected. Their idiot lawn crew cut my internet cable twice even after I convinced Insight to come in and run a cable for me.

The amenities aren't much, although they'll talk them up. The laundry is full of overpriced machines that never work. The "workout room" is a joke. The pool sucks. The quality of people who hang around a lot of that stuff will probably dissuade you from ever wanting to go near it.

Now, for the really bad part: Monarch Management. Watch for their lies; they only care about squeezing money out of you. The lackeys in the office have no power or inclination to do anything for you, and their bosses are jerks. They'll tell you anything to get the contract on the table, but make sure what they tell you is actually in the contract--they tried to pull a bait and switch on me. They don't care one bit about customer service. I have known at least three people who got royally shafted when trying to move out; they'll take any excuse to charge you extra fees. If you have to deal with the fat, sour-pussed woman in charge of the office, just assume you're not going to get any help or sympathy. She will be more than happy to wave her pathetic night-school degree in your face, though, as if that makes her in any way intelligent or useful.

Basically, if there were any genuinely good apartments in Anderson, I would tell you to avoid this place like the plague, but since Anderson is all about mediocrity, this might be the best you can get. Which is really sad. You can probably do all right at Cross Lakes as long as you go through your contract with a fine-toothed comb up front, avoid the management, and don't expect too much. But if you want a really nice apartment... well, why are you living in Anderson in the first place'
