I live in Rolling Woods, the newer section of the Rolling Ridge complex.
I really dislike the limitations in utilities. I don't want to pay $30 a month for cable, and because of their package with Insight, I cannot purchase the cheapest package, I have to go with what the complex offers. I cannot choose my phone company, I have to use their "package" which is not as good as Ameritech's, and my water is at a fixed rate. There are no recycling facilities or recycling pickup. My electric bills are outrageous, I've lived in 2 bedroom apartments which had cheaper electric bills, and the usage wasn't any less. My computer was unable to use their T1 connection, and when their "tech support" person came, they didn't even know how to use my computer. I can't get cable internet access, so I'm stuck using dialup. And since I can't choose my phone company, I have no voice mail and am constantly missing calls.
I can hear *everything* my upstair neighbor does, even when he uses the bathroom. It's disgusting.
The power goes out for no paticular reason during the day. I'm constantly having to reset my clocks and answering machine. I requested to have my oven fixed because it wasn't heating properly, and while they claimed the fixed it, it still doesn't work. The management takes poor attitude when I make a complaint or request, when I complained that my door was really difficult to unlock, they said it was b/c the door was shifting and to give it time. Repeatedly I complained, because I had to use all my strength to life up the door and turn the lock just to get in and out of my apartment. They finally fixed my door, but only when I called to tell them that I couldn't get out of my apartment! They finally believed me then.
