I guess I didn't have the same experience as most everyone else-- I lived in Rolling Meadows for two years and was sad when I had to move away.

I had a ground-floor 1 BR apartment that faced the woods. It was very private and pretty, so maybe that's why I liked it so much. And, I had my own W/D, and didn't have a TV or a home phone, so I didn't have to deal with those aspects.

Management was nice to me and never screwed up my charges. They were even accomodating when my apartment flooded (an accident--no one's fault), and sent three maintenance guys over at midnight to help me. Later they replaced all my carpeting and left everything in the same condition it was. (My renter's insurance covered my damaged furniture--Allstate renter's insurance is really good.)

When I moved out, they DID deduct some charges from my deposit. But, I didn't clean at all, and my doorstops and miniblinds actually DID need replacing! I thought the charges were reasonable... frankly I was happy to get anything back at all. All the other posts sound like they're going to keep some of your deposit no matter what, so if you live there now, do what I did--you might as well leave a mess and save yourself some trouble.

I moved to Los Angeles afterward--you want scary apartment stories' Within two months there was a drug raid, a rape, and a mugging in my new apartment building. Boy, did Rolling Meadows seem like paradise after that!!

PLEASE..i would rather live in LA and have all that ---- happen to me than live here.
