Lies in Advertising

Bloom (Adam's Grove and Adam's Bend) advertises "Sustainable Living" on their website and publications, but it is far from accurate. Granted they do have a nice "Amenities Center" that is very sustainable (green), but no one actually "Lives" in that building. They have upgraded the apartments since they became Bloom, but the upgrades have not been sustainable. I realize they are using low-VOC paint, but that one change is not even close to justifying the title of "Sustainable Living." There are many little things they could have done to move towards more "Sustainable Living"(energy star appliances, CFLs, low flow water fixtures...), but they haven't done anything. In regards to the "Amenities Center," it's very nice; I've actually been inside for a Chamber of Commerce event and I was impressed. With that said, none of the on-site personnel for Bloom had any detailed information about the building or even a basic understanding of why the building was built the way it was. I feel as if their advertising is a cheap and dishonest way of leasing apartments to people who are actually looking for a sustainable option for apartment living in Bloomington. And to top it off, there are, actually, management companies and apartment communities in Bloomington who are offering more sustainable options, but they are not currently advertising it.

If you are looking for something more sustainable out of an apartment community I have found you can contact the city of Bloomington's Commission on Sustainability and they have good information for one management company in particular (I won't mention their name here) who are taking huge steps to be more green, they are lightyears ahead of anyone else in Bloomington.

This review doesn't mention anything about deposits, apartment conditions, or maintenance issues; because I wanted to address Bloom/Millennium's responsibility to provide factual information in their advertising. Don't believe everything you read, investigate before you decide.
