I lived at Adams Village for a year, and overall I enjoyed my experience. The apartments are fairly new, and the area is quiet and peaceful. The neighbors were all nice, and most of them were grad students or newly married couples.

My main problem was with the manager, Joan. She was snippy half of the time I ever talked with her. When it was time to move out I checked my lease and saw that I had to repaint my entire apartment. I picked up the paint, which was very expensive. Special white paint chosen at a speciality store...I think I spent nearly $60 just on paint! At any rate, Joan came by my apartment and said to just paint over the few spots that needed it since I kept the place in nice shape. So, I did. When I moved out I couldn't find one spot on the walls. However, I just received my deposit reimbursement, and I was charged another $50 for painting and another $40 for "cleaning" expenses. So, she told me not to paint because it looked great but later charged me. One more thing. The pet deposit is $250. It's a little high for the area.

Additionally, my apartment was up for viewing for about a month. I'm a grad student, and she would give me less than 12 hours notice that she would be showing my place. She would promise that "this is the last viewing" and then later tell me she be showing it again. Quite an inconvienance.

So, Adams Village is a nice place, but just be aware of what goes on. There's a long waitlist for these apartments, so think twice if it's even worth the wait.
