Renting from Bart Villa or any other Deer Park Management property could cost you big time. My husband and I signed a lease with Deer Park in 2005 and realized within a matter of weeks we had made a big mistake. I've never dealt with such unprofessional conduct as was typical of the managers and leasing agents in the Deer Park office. My husband and I were never taken seriously whether we called about noise issues, maintenance, or simple questions regarding the terms of our lease. The unit we stayed in was falling apart beyond repair, and rather than replace the problem unit or appliance (such as the back door and the dishwasher), which we had begged them to do, they simply sent in maintenance to "fix" the problems, but we had to call back numerous times and the problems were never fixed, even upon us moving out.
The final straw came when Deer Park retained our deposit citing charges that we knew were unlawful according to the lease. We tried our very hardest to settle the issue ourselves with Deer Park, but they were beyond uncooperative and we had no choice but to take them to court and sue them for our deposit back. We won our case, as can be seen in public records under Hook vs. Deer Park Management.
We are still bitter and jaded due to our nightmare renting experience at Bart Villa. Please, exclude them from your apartment search and make sure your friends know too.
