Decent place to live

I recently moved from Nashville, TN to Bloomington, IN and had a very short amount of time to find an apartment. I narrowed my search down before I got into town, but Basswood had somehow slipped under the radar. I checked it out anyway, and the story ends here: I moved in.

The apartments are very cheaply designed. I feel like they haven't upgraded since the 80s, but I enjoy the vintage feel of it. The apartment is very spacious and has lots of room for storage. This was a great thing for me considering I'm a packrat and the last place I lived had no extra storage space! The living room/dining room is huge and very nice. In my apartment, there are two chairs, a couch, three bookshelves, television and stand in the living room and there is still enough room to live comfortably.

The kitchen is rather small, but it's enough for one person to cook. There isn't a lot of counter space, but that really isn't a big deal. The hallway is very narrow, but that also isn't a big deal. Nice storage closet in the hallway as well.

The bedrooms are sized nicely and the master bedroom has an extremely large walk-in closet. The only issue I have with the bedrooms are that they have no overhead lights. It has been extremely difficult being able to see sometimes. I have to turn to natural light by leaving my blinds completely up or I need three or four lamps. Crazy, eh' Yes, a little.

Overall... the apartment is a great fit and it reasonably priced for what you're getting.

Pets - not a problem. This is one of the few apartments in the area that did not have a crazy restriction on pets. I know that the people living below me and beside me both have dogs, but I barely hear them! Basswood is very much pet friendly.

That brings me to another thing -- noise. Noise is not an issue around here. Yes, you can hear your neighbor open and close his/her door, and sometimes you can hear people chatting outside your door, but overall this has been a great place for low noise levels. I hardly hear my neighbors (or anyone out in the parking lot) and it's great. I've even slept until noon or so without being disturbed. It's a really quiet place.

The staff has been great so far. I've had an issue with my garbage disposal and my sliding glass door. I reported it to the front office and it was fixed within 24 hours.

In my opinion, Basswood is a great place to live without breaking your pocket or your pride. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
