Terrible, terrible, terrible

Where do I start' Let's start with the good. First, the apartments are beautiful, I will give them that.

Now the bad. First, the service. The property managers seem very inexperienced and unprofessional. They fail to address problems, even minor ones, within their "48 hour guarantee." We pay the community for cable television and it took two weeks for them to get it turned on, despite their assurances to do so "by the end of the day." Five phone calls later, and finally a call to the local cable company, it was eventually turned on.

When our dishwasher broke, we called to have it repaired. They told us that they were having a problem with one of their other communities and that our problem would have to wait because a dishwasher they considered to be a "luxury good." Meanwhile, one of their so-called busy maintenance workers was fixing the mailboxes. We told them "uh, you are a LUXURY community of which we are paying LUXURY rent, so get over here and fix it." They fixed it the same day.

The managers also fail to address tenant problems in a professional manner. Rather than address problem tenants on an as needed, individual basis, an unprofessionally written letter is sent out to all tenants in a condescending tone.

Leasing agents frequently drop by to show of our apartment with no prior notice, not even a phone call. Sometimes they don't even knock. I came out of the shower one day to find a leasing agent showing off my apartment with no prior notice.

Here's a funny one. They constantly send out letters reminding everyone that each apartment only gets 2 parking spaces. If you have a garage, that counts as one. Maybe the dumbasses should not rent out 3 bedroom apartments.

When these grievances are discussed with them, the young, inexperienced, unprofessional property managers react defensively and seem to believe that they are always "in the right" since they are the landlord. They act this way to a very lucrative customer segment.

I will never do business with this company again. They will try like hell to get you in, but once they get you to sign a lease, they couldn't care less.

Bravo! This is a spot on review of how Deer Park operates. They send out lease renewals in less than 6 months to lock you into another year and if you don't sign it, they have the right to show your unit without any notice or even knocking for 6 months. One resident reported to me that she was having sex with her partner when a Deer Park leasing agent came in with prospective tenants and kept showing the apartment anyway. She did complain to that idiotic property manager Mike who told her that they have the right to enter all units at any time. Other tenants complained that they had to hide their valuables and constantly clean in case Deer Park was showing. This is an asinine practice, because it doesn't take that much effort to leave a message that the apartment will be shown with at least 24 hour notice but they don't care about your right to privacy. Luckily, they rent to anyone and do not do background checks. Most reputable leasing companies extensively show every unit, to at least a dozen prospective tenants, and pick the best of the best. Deer Park does not care if you party all the time because they are never around. They are not managers; they are student ghetto facilitators. Who needs this kind of agrravation?
