I leased a one bedroom apartment at the Boulders in their opening year. The apartment was presented in a clean condition (aside from a handful of missing light and outlet cover plates), however, two internal workings of the house later proved to be a problem.
When winter arrived the problems became evident, the pipes hadn't been insulated (at all!), and needless to say burst (and in several other apartments from what I had heard). The maintenance crew was not terribly prompt, but with other apt's having similar problems it's understandable. But, I was disappointed that during finals week I had to listen to the din of a fan.
The second recurring and unfixable problem is within the chimney. The shaft of the chimney was installed backwards. Consequently, when a fire was burning in the fireplace the smoke blows BACK INTO the house. I thought this may be a one time problem due to wind, but the misinstalled chimney shaft was unable to release the fire's smoke everytime (except on windless nights [''' don't ask me]).
All-in-all, my impressions and empirical experience with Deer Park Management and The Boulders left an undesirable taste in my mouth. Perhaps their other apartments are properly built. I'm not going to bother finding out.
