Pros and Important Cons

From: mover23
Date posted: 6/2/2006
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

I'll start with the pros:
1. The apartments are newer, spacious, have lots of closet space, and are great for what you pay for them.
2. The property seems well taken care of, and looks like a nice place to live with your family.
3. Maintenance is friendly, and responds quickly to requests.
4. Management is friendly.
5. They allow pets, have a small dog park, and the grounds are pretty poop-free.
Okay, now for the cons:
1. The walls are paper thin. We lived on the second floor, and could hear noise coming from both apartments below us, and both apartments on either side of us. I'm talking, we could hear our neighbors coughing and sneezing at times. Also, if there are people outside we could hear every word of their conversations.
2. The children who live here are allowed to roam freely (with no supervision) and make as much noise as they want. There are 2 playgrounds, a pool and a basketball court, but the kids would rather play in the middle of the streets and right in front of the apartments. I thought I would like seeing kids at play, but I was wrong. We could not get a minutes peace while living there. Forget being able to take a nap on your couch or keep your baby's asleep when they need to nap.
3. Alot of the residents are not the kind you would want for neighbors. The residents are generally inconsiderate. No one seems to go to work around there, and they all hang out outside on their patios (kinda like they do in the ghetto)talking loud and making noise all day and all evening. You'll be disturbed by loud bass music coming from the parking lot at potentially any hour. Like I said, you'll never get a moments peace living there.
4. I did often see the police there dealing with domestic problems. A police officer lives there, but it was not him dealing with the problems. I even once saw the police roaming the property looking for someone they were trying to arrest.
5. Although the management is friendly, they are not very organized and never return phone calls. When we put in our application, it tooks weeks for me to get ahold of them just to find out that they had not finished processing it. We almost moved somewhere else.

So, the property attracted us because it appeared to be a nice, quiet family place with great apartments and good rental rates. What we found was that we had a great apartment in an otherwise trashy place. The problem would be solved if the resident-base were different. To say the least, we ended up moving to a more expensive apartment just for the peace.
