A nice place, with a few cons

I will be moving from MT this July as I am getting married. I have loved all 4 years I have lived here. I agree with one comment that the rent is a little steep for a one bedroom (which I also had). My apartment was partially underground, and there wasn't as much sunlight as I'd hoped (but I always feel safe during storms!). So, if you decide on MT, get an apartment that's above ground.
The maintenance staff is very good. Especially Jeff--what a great and friendly guy. I have had a few maintenance issues over the last four years, as to be expected, but nothing major and they always came in a reasonable time.
Also, be sure you get an apartment with central heating/cooling. It may cost more, but will be worth it. Mine has the old boiler system with these funky metal things hanging out from the ceilings--that's my cooling unit--and so it gets cool but muggy in the apartment in the summer. You can't control the temperature, as it gets changed by the maintenance staff.
Overall, though, I have always felt safe and have enjoyed the scenery. Lots of music students, it's nice to hear them practicing with the windows open in nice weather. I fit right in with my piano! The surrounding neighborhoods are VERY nice. I felt safe walking at night. Only 15 minutes or less walking distance from Music school, and it's on the bus line (BT 4,5).
Parking can be a pain, but overall, I really enjoyed my time here and I will miss it. But it's time to get a bigger place, which I was able to do for cheaper at another place.
