Overall, it was the best place I ve ever lived. The people were friendly and warm, the apartments were quality, and the price was so reasonable (especially with the grad student discount). There was always ample parking and I could take the bus to IU every day (about 10 minute ride) because we were so close to the bus stop. They also had ample bike racks which made biking easy. The grounds were always very clean, well lit, and neat. When we moved in we had brand new carpet and freshly painted walls, when we resigned our lease we got an upgraded vanity in our bathroom.
Our apartment had central air and our neighbors were so friendly. You could sit on your porch and read a book while watching children play in the yard. I bet it would be a great place to have kids. Their pet policy was fairly cheap and with two cats we got all the deposit back. The train ran right by our building but it was never a problem -- it just sounds like thunder.

I also can t say enough good things about the maintenance. When we had a problem, they arrived promptly to fix it and were professional and friendly. Ray clearly knows his stuff and does a great job. The pool was always well maintained in the summer. We lived in the back of the complex near the aux laundry building and we almost never had to wait for a machine. I was also so excited that they started a recycling program!

Many of the residents are IU grad students or staff, so there are no wild loud parties. There are a lot of international students so it is quite racially and ethnically diverse. Also, the office staff and other residents were extremely queer friendly. My girlfriend and I always felt respected and safe.

However there is still some room for improvement. The ovens suck and have these weird ancient push buttons on the front. They cook fine, but it is easy to bump the buttons accident and set things on your stovetop on fire. They are totally not safe for kids, but one of my neighbors said they made a new stove a condition of moving in with their infant son and they got it. The office staff is fairly incompetent and turnover is high. They will often give you mistaken information, half guesses, and vague non-answers. They are sweet but not very well informed. The Saturday guy NEVER knows anything about anything, so just save your questions for Monday. If you want anything done, you need to just talk to Jane. The lawn guys are terrible and will run over things like lawn ornaments, flowers in pots, and toys leaving metal shards and plastic bits in the grass. They start mowing at 9AM and it is very very loud. They also cover everything with tons of fertilizer and pesticides so be careful with your pets or kids in the grass. It took a long time to get our security deposit back, about 56 days. There are no 6 month or month-to-month leases, although it took me months to get an answer out of said incompetent staff.

Hmm, train like thunder...very romantic but not so much when you have to live with it. The maintenance people are indeed nice and prompt, but the management is awful. The staff in the office is never the same, either. They seem to get hired and fired by the month!

I've lived here for almost two years and it has been the same office staff the whole time. I think one person has changed. The maintenance staff has changed a lot though. The staff has gone out of there way to make things as good as possible for me. I don't know about everyone else, but I like the things they have started here, like recycling.
