Woodbridge Apartments is not what it seems. My apartment is, basically, nice-looking -- but I have found, over time, that the buildings themselves are as well-constructed as a theater set. There is no insulation, so people have to tape plastic sheeting over their windows or face absurd heating bills. My main wall appears to be slowly detaching itself fromt the superstructure of the edifice, a more-than-minor problem obscured by a fresh coat of paint when I moved in. The oven has broken twice without warning. My blinds have, apparently, been broken for years, though the man who showed me around the place on move-in didn't seem to think this was a problem. When it rains, the mysterious attic space -- I'm not allowed in, though it has a door into my apartment -- floods, occasionally bursting through my closet ceiling and requiring multiple visits from the maintenance staff.
Outside: There is dog feces everywhere, though I suppose that's more of a problem with the other residents. The roads remain uncleared following a heavy snow. There is no recycling. When it gets cold, they put up sings asking us to "keep the tap running" to keep our pipes from freezing, which wouldn't be a problem in the first place if they simply insulated. Packages get delivered to the main office, for some wacky reason, and you have to go pick them up during office hours -- which, coincidentally, are everyone else's working hours. Mail is delivered to a tiny mailbox.
There IS a graduate student discount, which is nice. Still, getting to the university from here requires a trip on the super-crowded 6 bus. You can find better prices downtown and in walking distance.
Overall' I don't know what I'm paying for. It's a mediocre apartment complex with no value for your money. I get no real services from the overall hostile office staff, who seem mostly concerned with keeping up appearances. The apartment is livable, but nothing special. I won't be renewing my lease.
