I've had a good experience here

I moved in here with my boyfriend in Nov. '06 from the east side of Bloomington and I've been pleased with the low rent / square feet ratio and the great central a/c. I live in the building which is furthest from the central courtyard area and perhaps this is why my experience has been pleasant overall. The complex is clearly oriented toward working class families, so if you don't get an apartment in one of the outer buildings, you might be faced like previous reviewers have been with swarms of poorly-tended kids and pets. It's nice to have Wal-Mart about a minute's drive down the road and it's probably one of the better west side locations for people who work on the west side. I don't like being so far from campus, personally, but I've encountered no significant noise problem, the parking is good, and I haven't felt unsafe here (as a small-framed, twenty-something woman who is often home alone). My boyfriend tells me this complex was once a haven for drug dealers but that management has made a serious effort to police applicants/residents. Since I've been here, the roof on my building has been fixed/replaced, and the basement apartments got a back escape route (which I understand was required by the city); I don't like all this fixing up but I do appreciate the effort. I've had no personal contact with office personnel or the management, but after being constantly nettled by management at my old complex in Bloomington, I'm happy for the break. The rent is great, there's plenty of space, everything works and is relatively new - as I said, I've had a good experience and I think this complex is appropriate for people who want space but have little income to spare on rent. We're thinking about moving to a place with washer/dryer hook-ups which is closer to campus but we may decide to stay here for the cheap rent.
