Decent, but annoying

I currently live at Carmel Center and I really like my apartment. Its large, decently priced for what all we have. However there are several annoying things that have occurred and it is making me want to move.
1. The office staff are not the brightest-they passed out direct debit forms to all of the tenants w/ the monthly rent statements. there was a place for my name, checking account #, and a place for the authorized amount to be written in. I have a roommate who pays half the rent. I filled out the paperwork to reflect only my half of the rent. makes sense to normal people right' the NTS accounting department took out the FULL amount of our rent (over $1000) on the first of the month. my roommate had even paid her half already. then, instead of crediting my account back, i have to WAIT for a refund check to come in the mail. then when the refund check came, it was addressed to myself and my roommate. such incompetence is unbelievable for a business like this. i overdrew my account and had to cancel other bills that were due just to avoid late fees b/c of their mistake. when i complained, they made it seem like it was my fault for filling out the form in the first place.
2. they do not tell you about the dog kennel next door. thank god i live on the opposite side and it isn't so bad for me. i couldn't imagine living next to it...you hear barking all day long as soon as you open a window or walk outside.
3. horrible construction. i live on the middle (2nd) floor and i hear my upstairs neighbors walking around in heels constantly. i did have my headboard against a wall that is next to the stairwell and i woke up every morning to stomping. i had to buy a mini fan and move my bed to the other wall and now its not so bad. oh, and the insulation is awful. i had some very expensive heating bills this winter...highest was around $150.
4. i had a girl in my building on the 1st floor who would let her french bulldog poop on the patio and she would leave it. it was disgusting. a couple on the other side would just empty the ashtrays into the yard. i had to drag my own dog away to keep her from eating ciggarette butts. the staff has done nothing about either.
5. on certain tenant-appreciation days, they allow you to leave trash bags on the outside of the trash compactor. sounds nice, right' but the POOR people who live next to it! one morning, the trash bags were so backed up on the sidewalk, i couldn't even get up to the door to put mine inside. i was forced to contribute to the problem. it was just a disgusting mound of garbage bags and i don't think that's appropriate for "luxury" apartments.

in response to your post, i must say that my experience has had more positive than negative. however, i stand by my critiques...this is what this website is for and neither the kennel nor the direct debit was explained properly. a business should NEVER do something that is unauthorized, such as they did w/ our debit forms. the trash compactor incident occurred with in the 1st two (or so) months that i lived there and not during the recent break down. they have since stopped the curb-drop-off...thank god. the issue with the cigarette butts and dog poop on the patio were specific to my building...i didn't say that it was the complex as a whole. lastly, i know there will be noise in an apt complex...that is why i had to move my bed and get a fan to drown it all out.
this post was about a few ANNOYING experiences that i had, i am by no means saying that this is the worst place to live.

I would like to respond to "Decent, But Annoying". First of all, I would completely disagree about the comment of the office staff not being "very bright". I have lived at Carmel Center for 4 years now, and I can tell you the office staff is not only bright, but very friendly and professional as well. My roommate and I are on the auto pay as well- the FULL amount is debited from my own account and my roommate pays me his half of the rent. They tell you when you turn in the form that they can't do "half-rent" debits. I know that they don't directly take money out themselves either, but that that is all taken care of from their corporate office. How can you blame the office staff?
Secondly, they DO tell people about the dog kennel, and its unfortunate that is so close to the community, but if you are like me and work during the day, it should not be an issue, as they are not let outside during "sleep" hours. 3rd, you're gonna hear neighbors in an apartment- you just are. 4th, about the dog messes and cigaratte butts, I have personally received letters written by the office staff to all residents reminding of pet and trash policies. I feel they strive to keep this place looking good. And 5th, trash pick up day is ONCE a month and I think it is a very nice thing of them to offer, as I myself have a bad back. The residents can leave their trash outside their FRONT DOORS for maintenance to pick up- NOT outside of the trash compactor!! Your experience was most likely from the compactor being out of order, which they promptly had fixed.
I love Carmel Center and would DEFINITELY recommend it! It is luxury living at it's best! Thanks

I went into the office and asked about the so-called "curb drop off" you speak of. They said they have NEVER offered that, but once a month they let people set trash outside their doors for maintenance to come by and pick up.They still do this and I love it. I'm not trying to start things, but I really love it here and dislike when people try to paint a picture of Carmel Center and it's staff in such a poor light.
