This was my very first apt- i was very proud and excited. that is, until i did something dumb and put grease down the drain with no hot water running. i clogged it up really quick. i tried to fix it with draino but that didnt work so i tried somoething else... bad chemical reaction, had the fire dept come (after the fumes i inhaled while i was trying to fan it out the window- i worked the formula out, think was chorine gas- turned my large plant into a dead crisp plant within 24 hours. fire dept very responsive and helpful without attracting too much attention. the sweet elderly neighbors understood i was young and dumb and that i was really sorry.

but... when i tried to get the sink replaced because it was corroded and still didnt work, maintainence and the office staff refused to let me pay for it and refused to let me jsut go buy one nad pay for it to be done- they insisted that i would be violating my lease if i didnt let them replace it with what they wanted with approved people (and at their cost, bless their hearts.) well, i called almost daily and stopped by the office (my builing was next to the office) after excuse after excuse they finally got it done 3 MONTHS AFTER I 1ST REQ'D IT and damn near end of my lease. i told them i needed the sink to wash dishes and use for cooking water and they told me to use the bathroom for that! I told them it was important to me and that I would pay all costs. they refused.

i moved out- left the place ---- and span- no damage whatsoever. they ate up my $600 damage deposit with BS fees and charged me around $1000 for all new carpet (they told me was old when i signed and only had a year left anyway) and threatened to sue if i didnt pay immediately- which i did because I was scared to death- after all i had no life experience to know better and i had no proof just my word against theirs....

so make up your own mind.

oh and i got "noise" complaints on me frequently. i was a student and studied during my free time. didnt even have a tv or radio and the neighbor is claiming loud music.... i think the reason is i had a black friend over a few times and every time he came over to work on a project or study for tests i got bs complaints from this old man downstairs.

I am white but if you have black or other minority friends that might visit- stay away at least one neighbor is racist enough to lie about you to try to get you evicted. Oh, and the leasing office said this man is of high character and would never do such a thing... so my word against his and they believe him and keep the complaints in my file as if written in stone fact....
