If you want to live near downtown Carmel and need to save some money, look at Stone Gate Apartments. Just don't expect the same level of quality,service, or amenities that you will find in other nearby apartment communities. I have lived at Stone Gate for more than a year now. If I were in town more I might move, but Stone Gate is close to my office and I travel several days a week so saving money is more important than having a nice place to stay on the few days I am in town each week. They have done work on the community over the last year and it is better than it used to be. Still many problems to work out. Maybe in a few more years this will be a nice place to live. For now, consider it only if sticking to a budget is your first priority. Also, the people who think there is a lake here are either mistaken or lying. There is a lake at Meadowlark Park, but you can't even see it from Stone Gate. Pay attention to the negative reviews. They may save you a year's worth of regret.
